Clarks

This is Manchester’s Clarks store, yes they is some in smaller towns like Bury and Oldham however this one is in the city centre, and is much better than my local one, which is quite small and located opposite Heaton Park in the Sainsbury’s
They have a private section for kids upstairs, which gives you that little bit more of peace when looking for shoes. Both sections are a decent size
Most Clarks’ shoes are stocked here however they is a selection avaliable on the website to order in.
The staff seemed quite nice and helpful.
Unfortunatly I had to leave with no shoes and none being right for me due to feet problems and they was nothing on the website. This is a nice store and I prefer the in store experiance rather than online especially for shoes and it looks like I am going to have to kiss Clarks’ goodbye.
3 stars for the good size of the store and staff, I can’t give more due to the price of some shoes and they could definitley be more selection, in colours for example other than laces shoes, which I don’t like.

Clarks is ideal for starter shoes for children, theres plenty of gadgets in there for measursing etc so you get a perfect fit. However, the shoes are dated, ive never spun round in my tracks and involuntary wondered in… If your after some serious shoes to turn heads, i’d say to hit River, Topshop, Shuch and Shelleys was another fav of mine not sure if Shelleys is still around…
Imo Clarks have got a looooooooooong way to go to catch up with other women’s shoe outlets… Plus Very expensive for what you get… ok rant over lol

I don’t know if its my Mum’s influence or just years of relentless, child-​targeted advertising, but I’m a little obsessed with Clarks shoes. Mind you, I think most Indie kids are. Luckily, Clarks have caught on, so they nearly always have some beautiful Mary Janes in their collection. And because it’s such a ‘sensible’ shop, you can splash out on a fancy pair without feeling too guilty. After all, Clarks shows last FOREVER!
This particular branch is quite a good one, but it always seems a little too full of people and products, especially during the sale. The busy nature of the shop means that service can be really slow, too. So I wouldn’t recommend visiting when you’re in a rush… it can be quite frustrating!

Clark’s have been making shoes in 1825 so I think it’s fair to say that they know what they’re doing. They’re a bona fide British institution and the Manchester shop serves the company very well indeed.
Located on Market Street, the Clark’s shop has a decent amount of shoes with staff trained up properly, ensuring that you don’t end up with shoes that turn your feet into claws.
The women’s stock seems varied enough, with a decent line in retro clobber but, as I am a man, I tend to focus on the gent’s area.
If you want something formal, Clark’s will certainly be able to sort you out. However, as I’m one of those dreary bearded sorts, then it’s straight to the Clark’s Originals range for me.
Effectively, any time I’m buying shoes, I head straight to this place. It can be more pricey than other places, but to be honest, I think paying extra is well worth it. Other brands can fall to pieces in a year whereas Clark’s will outlive you and the next three generations of your family.
Speaking of which, if you have kids, Clark’s is really keen on measuring up your child’s feet properly, making sure they get a good pair of shoes for their horrible little feet.
All in all, it’s an ace place and definitely should be on the list when buying foot garments (sorry, I got sick of the word ‘shoes’ by this point).

You can’t really beat Clark’s shoes for quality. I remember being taken as a child at the beginning of every school year, well just before it started of course, for a fitting in the ever so proper machine contraption, whereby it would accurately measure my feet, of which I had and still have two odd ones. Grand. And then an assistant would pull out all the cutesy styles in my size and my mother would send back the ones she deemed inappropriate for school, and I would try on the remaining ones, pick my favourite, and we would leave with two pairs, as I would invariably destroy the first pair before Christmas. I was that clumsy.
I like to think I’ve refined myself a bit these days, but when it comes to properly shoes, I’m not talking fashion shoes to go out with the girlies, but tidy work shoes that require me to be on my feet or out representing at an event and such, and I need something that’s firstly comfortable and with some semblence of style, I always resort back to Clarks’. Funny how stuff like that stays with you.
My official tidy boots, the boots I live in for walking around when required to be in a suit are Clarks and they don’t cause me an ounce of trouble. All leather and beautifully made, comfortable, practical, hardwearing, and not hideous.
Clarks’ still cater to children, and it still amuses me watching a child getting fitted for new term shoes, and the styles have got a bit more child friendly since then, but they’ve got a bit more fashion friendly all around. Men, Women and Children, they even do the odd handbag, and the shoecare that everyone tries to sell you but you never want to buy. Styles reflect the fashions, albeit a more practical foot friendly version.
Still irks me that they never sell the Clarks’ Originals range in any Clarks’ store I’ve been in lately, but you can’t have it all now can you.

This takes me back. Being the weird child I was I always revelled in getting my new school shoes and which ones I would have. There was the ever infamous boot leg range (far too expensive for my feet back then) to those ones that lit up as you trotted around. You wandered in with your mother then you’d have your feet measured on that peculiar machine, you’d pick the ones you wanted then wait for the lady to come back with them, then you’d slip them on and she’d ask you to lift up your toes and then feel the shoe all over.
Then you’d walk up and down the store with them on and the lady would say to your mum, «hmm perhaps a size down it’s slipping a lot on his heel. Any who enough nostalgia clarks has all varieties of leather shoes for your females to males and everything in between, there reasonably priced and good quality (mine use to stand up to 10 months of playground abuse).

Clarks! Who didn’t love using the strange foot-​measuring machine as a kid? What little girl didn’t want a pair of Princess Magic Steps with the key in the sole?
The joy of the foot-​measuring machine was that slight nervous anticipation when you thought it could potentially squash your foot but it stops just short. Parents trusted Clarks because they seemed very focussed on ensuring their children’s feet weren’t going to be uncomfortable or deformed due to shoes. They wouldn’t sell you anything just for the sake of making a sale, they want to sell you the RIGHT shoes. And the left ones too for that matter. Hehe.
So you’ll never get a pair of foot-​massacring party heels at Clarks, so what? That ain’t the Clarks way. It’s cosy and comfy feet in their book, and anything with a heel has a heck of a lot of cushioning, and that heel sure as hell won’t be a stiletto. It’ll be something chunky, like in the 60s. Clarks very handily categorises its shoes via function, such as workwear, smart, casual, college and so on. You know you’re getting quality, with their soft leather, well-​fitting footwear. And they even do half sizes as standard. Do you know how many shops just refuse to acknowledge that half sizes exist? Tons.
It might be sensible, but Clarks doesn’t have to be boring. They’ve always catered to their audience while maintaining a subtle plateau of innovation, and that’s what we love about them. When I worked at Barratt’s I used to gaze longingly at the Clarks a few shops down. There’s a shoe shop where people care about feet, I thought, explaining for the fiftieth time that day to a customer that we didn’t do half sizes. Clarks has proved itself recession-​proof, and it might just be time-​proof too.

I am not a big fan of this shop as i don’t really like many of the designs and the shoes always seem very expensive but the shoes are good quality and always last a long time. They stock mens, womens and childrens shoes and you can get your feet properly measured too.

I think it is very important to get your childs feet measured properly and at Clarks that is exactly what they do, they have a special machine that not only measures the length but also the width so your child gets a perfect fitting shoe every time, it does give me peace of mind knowing they have the correct fitting shoes
The price of their shoes are little bit steep but they are made of leather and of good quality, they have a fantastic selection of pretty shoes for boys or girls and hard wearing school shoes, so although expensive they last 2 or 3 times longer than a cheap pair, also they do have plenty of sales on, so just try to go then.
I took both my girls to Clarks until they were about 10 after that age they started wanting the latest trends etc. I could always get them in Clarks to try on the shoes because they had a little slide, so my girls actually looked forward to going just to go on the slide, I havnt been for a while so it may not be there now.

My little girl was just one and a half when i brought her to this shop to try on her first pair of shoes (and be measured!) and we found a lovely pink pair of little walkers which were on sale! (even better!) i must say compared to other shoe retailers i find clarks very expensive, but you can always find a bargain when the sales are on.

I first came in here when my daughter needed her first ever pair of shoes. My little girl was terrified and didn’t know what was happening to her when she was having her feet measured and she wouldn’t stop crying! (bless her!) The staff were so good with her. They gave her a lolly pop and a teddy bear to distract her and calm her down and it worked! Before long she was a happy bunny again! They had such a great selection of kiddies shoes for her in all different colours and styles. It was really hard deciding which shoes to buy for her because they were all gorgeous! After half an hour we finally decided which shoes were most suitable for her. The staff were very good on giving advice. when we paid for the shoes they put our names down for a prize draw to win a years supply of clarks shoes and they also took our photograph of us for a keepsake of the first time we bought her a pair of shoes! Very sweet and lovely to keep!

This is a fantastic shoe shop if you like high quality shoes and boots and don’t mind paying high prices. Prices are not high for the quality or standard but may be considered high when compared to other high street stores. In the winter their selection of Ladies boots is excellent, and also throughout the spring and summer, their stylish shoes are practical (IE no twelve inch heels) but at the same time fashionable and comfortable which is sometimes hard to find anywhere else! The men’s shoes are equally as great in terms of price, style and quality. They normally have a style to suit everyone’s taste, and their sales are brilliant, after Christmas boots normally drop by about 50% of the usual price! This place is highly recommended from someone who likes to have nice shoes but doesn’t want to kill her feet!
