Very decent and the service was friendly enough. Pretty much your basic full English but halal for those that like meat with their breakfast. Not me. Shame the street parking outside is an epic rip off. Cheers Manchester city council.

There are three cafes that I regularly visit in the Northern Quarter, and Chai Latte is one of them. The food is always immaculately presented reasonably priced. On a recent visit, I ordered an English breakfast and was delighted and somewhat amused to see that my baked beans were now being put in a white square bean dish — 10⁄10 for effort there, although baked beans and classy presentation don’t seem to occupy the same parts of my brain! The coffee and tea is of a good standard. The service is quick, although I do know it has improved considerably since Chai Latte first opened. I prefer to sit at the front of the café or, on sunny days, out on Stevenson Square. The sidewall opposite the counter is used to display artwork by local artists, which I think is a great idea. Mid-week you’ll find the café being frequented by office workers and business people. At weekends, back-packers, football fans and tourists who are staying at the nearby Hatters hostel. I think some of the reviews here have been a bit harsh so I would like to balance things by awarding Chai Latte 5 stars. As I said, it’s in my regular 3 and I am always satisfied with my food and drink.

As I stepped into Chai Latte this afternoon for lunch, I must admit It took great courage and character on my part to not walk into Slice which is right next door and is also one of my favourite eateries in Manchester. I could see no menu on the door, so I had no idea what I was getting into. Once inside there was a menu over the counter listing their various wraps, sandwiches etc. I chose a cajun chicken wrap to take away. It came with a price tag of £4.80. I was told card payment will incur a 50p charge. Around 5 minutes later my wrap was packed in a neat looking takeaway box with some salad. The place itself isn’t that great looking, and the overall experience wasn’t something to cherish either. Anyway, a short walk later, I was back in the office. I must admit, I liked the layout of the box(please see uploaded image). One bite into the wrap and I could feel straightaway that the chicken was cooked separately and mixed with the Cajun spiced sauce. In my world that’s a big no-no. After today I don’t think I will be stepping into Chai Latte for a long time, but good luck if you plan to do so.

Must admit that this place wasn’t a choice. The breakfast place we wanted to go to was so full that we settled on this one that was close enough to where all our cars were parked. As we had quite a large group of us, this place wasn’t too busy, but we really didn’t care. We just wanted to hang out and get food in our bellies. Food was decent, wasn’t expensive, and service was great. Mind you it was really just us(a group of 12 of us) and 2(maybe 3) other small tables of 3 to 4 people. The servers and the kitchen managed to handle our big order. I think this place gets under valued. It has a lot of potential, the space is great, they have a few couches to lounge in, though the toilets are eerily cold(clearly in the winter). I think Chai Latte is worth a go, so long as you don’t just park outside and actually park your car at a car park.

Sunday morning breakfast cravings and my favourite place is closed :(Where else to try, somewhere new perhaps? Chai Latte in Stevenson Sq. Parking outside would normally have been free but since Manchester City Council would like to skint everyone before Christmas, it is only free before 8am and after 8pm. BOOOOO. A big sandwich board outside boasting a full breakfast and a full veggie breakfast, plus many more offerings pulled us is. I ordered maple syrup porridge and a vanilla latte and Adam Y had a sausage and egg muffin and an americano. Not sure how it totalled £9.05 but it did. The porridge was instant and served in the instant pot :(but it was nice for instant porridge. But this isn’t why we go out for breakfast and pay for it. Adam said his sandwich was OK. The coffee was good though. The place inside was a bit dark, better lighting would have giving it a much nicer atmosphere, and the white shiny plastic tables and chairs gave it a ‘clinical’ feel, and like John L said there isn’t much ‘buzz’ about the place. The service was very good though, the two men who were serving were polite and friendly and we had a little chatter about the parking situation with them.

Spookily quiet in the middle of the lunch hour, I’d popped in for a sandwich, and ordered the special, cajun steak sandwich with melted cheddar. At £3.95 it would have been a bit pricy except it was huge. It tasted pretty good as well. The standard menu has your standard range of sandwiches and wraps, a salad bar, coffees, and teas. There’s a lot of seating inside, though there’s not much«buzz» about the place. This is a reasonable enough place but it doesn’t really have a special feel about it, much like the previous occupant, The Eatery. Most intriguingly, they offer a decent range of breakfasts: I will have to return one day to try their offerings. I also need to try their drinks, including, I suppose, the Chai Latte. Unilocal are doing their best not to help out Facebook, so I can’t add their website which is (Yelp: that’s crappy).
