For a good quality coffee and freshly prepared food this is an excellent place to stop and take a breather. It has a good selection of sandwich fillings to choose from and different types of bread to combine, the breakfast is well worth it if you have a little more time. All of this is prepared and served by staff who are efficient and happy in their work. If there is a downside to BRU it is the opening hours — doesn’t open on Sunday so no leisurely breakfast or brunch.

Visited this coffee shop on another visit to Manchester. This time I went to Moss side leisure centre for a work out with my partner. Although I have visited the area a few times(mainly for the huge Asda next door) I had not taken anytime to look at the local shops only a street away. So after the workout, we stopped in to Bru for a smoothie. The venue itself is actually quite nice compared to some of the other shops along this street. The décor makes you feel that you are in a buzzing café in some international city. Its certainly very clean. The staff seemed local, which was nice, I quite like being called mate and love when I visit from grumpy service land(aka London) so got off to a good start with some friendly banter. Ordered two smoothies and a sandwich to share. All was very tasty and quite reasonably priced too. The smoothie was nice and fresh and perfect for the after gym session. Sandwich was also freshly prepared and tasty. I did not try, but they serve Illy coffee, so I will be back, for an espresso at some time in the future. It has free wi-fi too Down sides… in my opinion, behind the counter is quite untidy and it really distracts the eye from an other wise perfectly good interior design… get rid of all those surplus plastic cups in the cabinet on the right… makes it look like they are closing down. Also they have a huge menu, again in my opinion, although a good thing, for the size of the venue, it’s too much, especially when you don’t have many of the options available(maybe I went on a bad day, but about 5 things I choose were ‘off’ that day) Having said that, the downs don’t outweigh the positives. Good food, good price, great smoothies and fantastic service. If you live around here then do visit, it is the best in the area for coffees and light bites.
