Zilly

This place is amazing! Very reasonable prices for nice and fresh food. It can be greasy but it’s fantastic place when you are looking for food before or after party. Breakfast from Zilly on hangover must be awesome. What’s more portions are huge! And if you are very hungry you must be patient because it can be very busy.

Zilly’s can be quite addictive. I often come here for a comfort lunch as they do really very reasonably priced and good sized lunch options.
The ambiance is very much cheap and cheerful, with brightly coloured signs showing your meal options. It’s almost builders Café in feeling. They do have tables, but I’ve always had take away. You’ll often find a queue, but they are really quick so you’ll get served within a few minutes, even if the queue is out the door.
Overall what makes Zilly’s so appealing is the price, portion size and the speed. The meals themselves are okay, but not amazing quality and do feel overly stodgy. However they fill a need and sometimes you need that to get through the day.
A few favourites of mine are the Spicy Beef Burrito and Tuna Jacket.
At £5 for the burrito, it’s a filling meal choice. I find the wrap slightly sticky, but it’s pretty packed full, weighty and satiating.
The Tuna jacket at £4.20 comes with a huge potato and massive dollops of tuna mayo. The salad is also pretty good and I often ask for extra red cabbage. They do give you a lot of salad, which is always good.
The staff are very friendly and it’s great to get a rapport going with them. However with such a fast turn-​over from ordering to your option being ready, it’s hard to get a decent conversation in.

My breakfast eggs and toast were ordinary but my friend’s burrito plate was enormous. I had a sliver of the lettuce covered in salsa and liked the little kick it had.
Giving it four stars as the folks seemed nice but not five as my eggs weren’t anything to write home about.

Zilly’s is a staple in my weekly lunch intake. They hooked me from the start with their reasonable pricing, quality selection, friendly dispositions and good food.
This is ran by a Turkish family of brothers and they do a great job. There is always a long line for lunch and they don’t disappoint.
Offering everything from sandwiches, to burgers & chips, to salads and much more. I highly recommend the Chili Zilly Chicken Burger, it’s amazing and a deal at £4.90, which includes chips!
