I first visited Yumenoki about 8 years ago when I first moved to London. A friend of mine recommended it as she would get the lunch bento whenever she had an appointment around lunch time at Chelsea & Westminster hospital. I usually have my appointments first thing or the end of the day however one day I finished around midday and needed to eat soon. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento. You get a soup to start and had potato salad as the starter. After you get the bento box — includes a small side of rice with your main and also some fruit as your dessert. Not too full but just enough I think to satisfy you for lunch. Overall, it is okay — nothing amazing but not bad either.

A very good diner for Japanese cuisine! Very cozy place situated along the long and posh strip of Fulham Rd. Not just for quick grab but for a date of two or more!

Great little Japanese — we go here regularly. The food is always great — fresh and lovely flavours, especially the beef tataki. It is quite pricey, but miles ahead of your standard London Japanese. The atmosphere is pretty quiet — sort of a neighbourhood vibe… definitely better for a low key Tuesday dinner than a Friday night out! The staff are really lovely. Service can be slightly patchy. We love the food, and keep going back.

I think this place is ok. Slightly expensive perhaps but a decent standard. I liked the softshell crab maki. The waitress was very sweet as well, and it’s a nice place to sit in. They have some good lunch deals. Overall, it didn’t blow me away but it’s a good neighbourhood sushi joint.

I had a giant craving for sashimi all week. Although knowing the standard of sashimi in London I’ve tried to avoid further disappointment at all cause. Today, may be it’s end of the week, may be it’s the lack of sleep, I wandered into this neighbourhood joint to try my luck. I ordered 2 uni nigiri and a sashimi salad. The uni was not fresh at all. The color was brownish and it had the after taste of something dead(hence un-fresh). The rice was over cooked and mushy. The seaweed was kinda the redeeming element. I was surprised that it was fresh and not soggy(yeah I’ve set my expectation kind of low these days) The sashimi salad had 6 pieces of seafood. 3 pieces cooked and 3 pieces raw. They should really just call it seafood salad instead. That aside, the salmon was the only good piece of fish. The others were alright… A bit tasteless. Overall it was overdressed and I suggest for them to use rocket leaf for their salad base next time. The spiciness and crunchiness will help the otherwise blend dish. Overall it’s my fault to try the place… Really should’ve just gone home and made myself ramen instead.
