On one of the sunniest days of the year I insisted on grabbing myself a frozen delight. Being in Canary Wharf there was only one obvious choice. YooMoo — the fabulous self serve frozen yogurt shop. Yes ladies and gents you heard me, you can pour yourself and they charge you by weight. So I got the perfect after dinner treat for a mere £1.80. I will admit I don’t have the typical appetite when it comes to fro-yo, I’d rather have a little bit with lashings of fresh fruit on top. Here I got strawberries and passion fruit that they cut up right in front of me and scooped out into my giant pot. I also liked the staff here, they were more than happy to have me sample, were friendly and even recommended flavours. They have a huge selection of flavours here, coffee, caramel, chocolate, strawberry… It’s American style fro-yo, so it’s quite ice creamy and even though it’s fat free it’s stuffed with calories. But sometimes you have to have a few calories to enjoy yourself. Now I know this place is here I will be back when I’m next in the area. It’s a winner.

Apparently this new location of YooMoo is the first self-serve frozen yogurt bar in the UK. It certainly is like all the self-serve frozen yogurt bars in the US: — Overly sweet frozen yogurt in flavours masquerading as soft-serve ice cream — Plenty of unhealthy toppings to sprinkle upon your sugar-laced dessert — An actually reasonable cost per kilo But I’ve been spoilt by the delicious, natural healthy frozen yogurt purveyors in London. And I’d much prefer a tart and tasty treat to an artificial-tasting one(and some of the flavours at YooMoo certainly have a bizarre aftertaste). Personal preference and all that. But, yeah, this is totally solid.
