The only thing I really like about Yo Sushi is their amazing concept of a Japanese Sushi Bar that delivers food to customers via a conveyor belt… Kind of funny experience that you should definitely try once… Not for the quality of the food but just for fun and if you have money to spent on a basic meal… Because yes, the less funny part of eating in a Yo Sushi restaurant is probably the price you pay for their little plates. Prices vary between 1.90£ and 5£ per plate(depending on the color of the plate). Really expensive for basic japanese food. A meal(mix of 4 or 5 plates) costs around 18£ with still water! Good point: the offer is quite correct: about 80 different plates(soups, noodles, sushis, tempura, salads, rice) but not all of them arrive via the conveyor belt… Sometimes, you have to order them and that’s for the best… Imagine hot items turning and turning again on the belt… I enjoyed the concept once, during a business lunch but then, I went back and found it really expensive. Moreover, you never know when the plate has been put on the belt so… there is freshness concern from my side as well!

I love Yo Sushi, but this was my first visit to this branch inside Westfield. The layout of the branch is slightly different to typical Yo with the kitchen at the end to one side behind a glass window instead of the seats being around it. The food was good as always. The belt was absolutely full to the brim of plates as it was pretty busy whilst we were there. Not all the dishes I wanted were on the belt but it was still easy to order from the staff who were reasonably attentive. Especially as the buzzer wasn’t working properly. I have been to a few Yo Sushi’s recently where the buzzer doesn’t seem to be working. I hope they fix this as soon as possible. Also there were some Summer specials that we could order so we tried a couple of them out and they were delicious. Definitely would go back, but I have to say that the separate Yo restaurants are my favourite as you don’t have to hunt out the toilet and they often have Japanese music in the background aswell as being able to sit around the kitchen.

I normally like my sushi made-to-order, not revolving for hours on the carousel. My partner and I only went to Yo Sushi because of a promotion I received in my inbox(I think it was a 40% off all sushi on the carousel). I did not have much to eat due to the dismal vegetarian selection, and anything off the belt was at full price. Not sure I would be back any time soon, unless there is a promotion or something. The sushi was not up to scratch and was overpriced. The only saving grace was the miso soup, which was quite flavourful(better than Itsu’s).

A very expensive place that serves low quality sushi. Try the rice recently and you will end up in the loo most of the evening. Yes, diarrhoea! The rice that comes with the sushi was not properly cooked during my last visit. And I remember the date, 26th February 2012. They do not check if the wasabi had been left in a mess by other customers, and dirty little plates for my Beni Shoga(pickled ginger). They also do not take part in any promotions and have a thorough look at their kitchen. I do not understand why they have even passed a cleanliness inspection. Filthy, gastric upset(with diarrhoea), and expensive! Do you really want to try it? I am never going back.

Looks like I’m slowly but surely eating my way through all the branches of YO! As mentioned elsewhere I am not your typical sushi lover, quite the contrary. Instead I am a fan of the large selection of non-fish dishes, especially the grilled aubergines recently added to the menu. It is hard not to overdo it as temptation rolls past your table the price at the end is always a bit of a dampener. The Westfield branch is one of the busiest I have been to. On the upside, you will always get a greater selection of dishes going around on the conveyor belt even at off-peak times. On the downside, staff are stressed and not as attentive as in other branches. It is very crammed which is probably why they tot up your plates from across the tables rather than come and talk to you. I ended up spending quite a lot of money at this branch in the run-up to Christmas and was happy to be handed a 40% off voucher valid in January. It would have been kind of staff to point out that, in order to claim your discount, you would have to register online. As it turns out I didn’t read the small print and missed out. Nil points for service.

Not great but not terrible. Bland and a bit too expensive for what it was. They need to up their game.

It would not suprise me to hear a local news item about a Japanese tourist accidentally eating at Yo! Sushi Westfield and then going on a killing spree screaming«What have you done to our beautful iconic raw-fish based cuisine? This is an insult to the Japanese nation!». I would simply nod in agreement. Worst sushi I think I’ve ever had. Monday-morning-in-November-grey tuna in tiny pieces, tasteless plasticky salmon. I picked up what I thought was a plate of tore kare age, but it turned out to be some kind of burnt deep fried salmon abomination. It was awful. The lady who showed me to my stool was friendly enough, but the surly Spanish waiter who totted up my bill(well, he couldn’t be bothered to walk around the conveyor island and sniffily asked me to turn the summoning light off) annoyed me sufficiently to not leave any tip. I’m not a huge fan of Yo! Sushi, but they are the closest source of sushi to my new house. I’ll have to forage further afield in future.

No, no, no! The food goes round and round, who knows how long it’s been there. What I do know is that it’s greasy, cold and the portions are far too small, padded out with chopped lettuce to make it look bigger. At least it cheap, oh, hang on, it’s not! A lunchtime meal for me and my two children was £60 and we left, desperate to go and get a proper lunch somewhere. All of us love sushi so next time we’ll nip into M&S and grab a couple take away boxes and go and sit in the sunshine somewhere. Then, with the money I’ve saved, we can all go to the cinema too.

Another in the chain of sushi trolley eateries spreading their way across London. Unlike most of the other ones, you can’t really see the chefs doing their work as they’re hidden behind a partition, but water is available on tap, the food is tasty. Albeit quite expensive. Expect a quick lunch to cost £20!
