A cute, cozy pub a stones throw away from Westminster. A group of us stopped in for lunch and a pint! We all got different things and enjoyed them all. I had the curry– which was flavorful. I would highly recommend it. A friend ordered a sandwich which was a large portion. Another friend order the steak and ale pie, which he thought was great! The beers were delightful. They have a wide selection.

Best thing about this place is the sticky toffee pudding. Hubby said the beer was okay! Location was good if you’re staying near Westminster, but the place gets PACKED very early — like 5p.

The beer was as flat as the staff… it would have been nice to feel welcome. Can’t help but appreciate the traditional pub décor with separate bar area downstairs suitable for family dining. If you’re touring and need a break right then and there. then, by all means. set your expectations accordingly.

A solid pub with a good deal of local flavor. I’ve been here a few times, and always had a nice experience. I find the lighting choice a bit harsh — feels a bit like an office or a classroom rather than a pub, but the drink choices are good and my beer connoisseur pals maintain they keep their ales better than most in the area. All in all, a keeper.

Beautiful looking pub, Bishops Finger not bad. Let down by incredibly rude staff, and an extremely offhand landlord, who gives the impression he should be in the House of Lords, as serving polite beer drinkers is so obviously beneath him. Drivel of the highest order

This is a charming little pub tucked away from the hustle and bustle of busy Westminster. The appearance is very old school and the owner is charming. The beer was well kept and it was a great place to while away a couple of hours, sitting on a stool in the window watching the world go by. If anything, the place is a little too tucked away. Despite this being the build up to the Olympics and the Mall being wall-to-wall tourists, the pub was nearly empty.

We visited this pub on a Sunday lunch time with my baby daughter and mother in law. We found the owner rather unpleasant and grumpy. The food portions were minimal and the quality very very very poor. If it wasn’t for the location and it’s history it should be closed. Maybe an ok place for night drinks

I am from Germany and I was on a conference in the Queen Elisabeth conference hall nearby. So instead of eating the sandwiches, we decided to eat fish and chips in the Westminster Arms. The atmosphere was great and the service very friendly. I don’t know if this pub is traditionally british but for us Germans it was ^^ Very nice and delicious!

Really good old school pub. Great selection on Shepherd Neame beers and they are really well kept. Prices are what I expected for central London(not cheap!) but have paid more in fleapit nightclubs and faffy wine bars and not had beer half as good. Can’t review the food as only had the beer but prices and choice didn’t look bad.

After visiting Westminister Abbey, my friend and I decided to go into Westminster Arms for something to eat. Outside there was a sign that said wine bar downstairs, so that was our initial appeal. Well the wine list was quite short and nothing really struck our interest. We decided to stay and eat anyways. Well we left more than we ate. We both ordered the Fish and Chips, its England, where can you go wrong right? Welllll, first off for me, the skin being left on was a turn off. I am use to going into chippys where there is no skin left on the fish. I’m not sure if this is what caused the next problem, but the batter was thick and sticky which then made the skin sticky. I spent a lot of my time peeling the skin off. The chips were clearly frozen and so it wasn’t the true effect. We did notice that while we were sitting there three groups of people came in, looked at the small menu and walked back out. I guess they were the smart ones.

Witches in the Dungeon of Westminster Arms Pub PokerFaceBabe from Chicago September 18, 2009 Quote: I love this website where reviews are sincere, honest, and IMPORTANTLYREAL, justice has served in the service industry with this great websit with whom I have to thank. As for my trip to London, I wanted to take my parents to the grandest place in London which is West Minster Abbey however they were closed on the day I arrived! It was Saturday 4÷25÷09 for future referencers. After realizing it was closed, I opted for the closest good looking eatery around. I saw Westminster Arms. I went there thirsty, hungry, and tired from an 18 hour transatlantic flight. While«Westminster Abbey» was near but closed for some reason I heard it would open later on for Mass after 3pm, so I decided to eat something in the meantime before visiting the beautiful place once again on my 3rd trip to England. I entered a grand place, with dark wooden and classic looking pub. For food at the time I went, you had to go to the basement or in my case in the«Dungeon» where I was greeted by a lady with white hair blue eyes at the counter. She looks like Baby Spice had been dragged through the wash and dry cleaners with tons of eye make up. Or for fellow Americans, «Chucky’s Wife» from Childs Play. She felt the dire supreme urge to have rage in her heart and humiliate further berating me infront of other customers. This all happened within seconds of ordering my very first«fish and chips», she told me the price however, after she saw where I was sitting and that there were others at the booth with me, she upped the price by 5 pounds! She went on to tell me she was going to charge me further while I ordered one dish and had 2 other guests. She said because the guests are with you(assumming I was going to share my meal maybe.) she was going to charge. I further explained that they were not going to eat. They could have very well been outside but were just there with me physically and that I’d buy the water for them to drink because they were thirsty. Just after attempting to explain they were only there physically but was not at all hungry because they had already eaten on the plane, and I was the only hungry one. They don’t even like fish and chips! I wanted to see how it was going to be made so I stood there admiring. She verbally attacked me with«you got an attitude!?!» and continued to point me out to her friend saying, «look at this one here, she’s got a problem» while being loud, hissy and insisting the other younger looking one went on and attacked me too without prior knowledge of the conversation. They didn’t have to look like a hag and a witch but their attitude soon transformed them into the various characters. To top it off, I had went there on a day which was my birthday with my dearest parents who have worked so long and hard and have never experienced Europe or London to be specifica. It was already a long transatlantic flight, so I already had no energy to even start an attitude but wanted to show my dear parents whom I love and care about(I brought them on a tour of Europe to show the great people, landmarks, and sights) and was greeted by witches in the dungeon at Westminster Arm. GODISGREAT ! ! ! The great thing about this experience is that it was interesting and a culture shock because with this being my 3rd time there I had never had a bad experience with a British woman. Good thing I stayed calm, like God was testing me. Westminster Abbey opened up for mass, my parents were able to admire the Beautiful Grand Architecture of the ABBEY. I met my longtime British friend by chance(because he remembered we were scheduled to go there) infront of Her Majesty’s Theater in time for my parents to enjoy the beautiful TOPPHANTOMOFTHEOPERAPERFORMANCE. Then to top it off, at night we danced with Ciara in the VIP section at Bungalow(a great club) on my BIRTHDAY. FROM dealing with HAGs(at Westminster Arm) in the basement, to Partying with Celebrity and RICHES and had the time of my life! THANKYOU! Leave if you do not want to be tested by the Witches Dungeon! Even though they were made by hags, the gentlemen were nice, and the people upstairs seemed to get it on nicely, watch for those two if they’re still there in the basement. As long as you’re not brown, you’ll be treated alright. Stay for the Fish in Chips which were TASTY!

If you’re in the area as a tourist(Cabinet War Rooms, Westminster Abbey, etc.), this is a great place to rest and have a meal and get your pub experience. We had the Steak and Spitfire Ale Pie and the Cottage Pie. Both were delicious.

Yes, the staff are the most realiably sulky I’ve ever encountered, but I like to see that as a challenge. And you would be miserable too if you had to deal with swarms of drunken civil servants all the time. Has a lovely outdoor pavement/road area, and charming cosy downstairs. Overpriced, standard pub food, always runs out of crisps. Easily the second best pub in the area.

Stopped in while walking around. We ate and drank downstairs. We had a nice lunch with good pâté and cheese plates ordered from the counter/bar. Saw a number of local business men and a number of tourists drinking beers and wine and lunching at the small round tables and the tiny booths. I saw soups, fish and chips, and some sandwiches that all looked quite tasty. A tight fit for sure but also quite comfy. We had a great Cab Sav. A great spot to rest your bones while walking near Big Ben.

This small pub is a favourite of parliamentarians are those who work in Westminster village. They serve up a whole bunch of Shepheard Neame( ) ales. Often too busy to bear through the week. During the weekends its a quiet, friendly place to have a pint. It still feels properly old. Though there are a couple of TVs set high in the corners(when I was in on Sunday there was footy on in one corner, and David Attenborough in the other). Coolest of all: they have a remote extension of the division bell( ) that indicates members of Parliament or the House of Lords need to return to fight a close vote! There’s an upstairs dining room.

A fave for officials winding down after work. Can get packed and hot during the week, especially in the badly ventilated downstairs bar. Good for networking and usual range but nothing exciting at the bar.

Another pub popular with politicos, The Westminster Arms is split over two floors and feels rather old-fashioned. Downstairs, there is an hot buffet, and the feel is more in line with a wine bar than a pub. Although the dark wood, dimly lit theme continues upstairs, the atmosphere is much more pubby. It is easy to imagine all sorts of political plotting taking place here. You might end up with a story you can sell to the Sun!
