The Waterside Café was the first place I was advised to go to when I first moved in the area. Little Venice is a beautiful area and the opportunity to get into one of the canal boats and have a nice lunch or coffee is something you don’t want to miss. I have been there many times and it’s definitely one of my favourite places in London. The food is amazing, the coffee is great and the atmosphere pretty unique. The breakfast and the omelettes are the best so you have to try those first and then you’ll want to keep coming back for more. I can not recommend this place enough! Just go ahead and go there and you’ll understand!

Have you ever been out on a miserable day and thought I want comfort? I want somewhere that will make me feel cozy, cutting out the cold, damp environment? Today was such a day for me. I emerged from Warwick Underground Station to a miserable wet London day. I wanted instant comfort. I decided that today refuge remedy was the Waterside Café in Little Venice. The Waterside Café feels as though it has been in Little Venice forever. It is almost a local institution. I think most of the Unilocalers I know in the W9 region of London have either checked in or reviewed this place. It is actually a barge that sits on the canal, in the heart of Little Venice. In the summer it is really popular, and difficult to get an outside seat on the canal bank. Today though, I wanted the warmth of the inside of the barge. I ordered a Latte, and sat down looking out at the drizzle and felt good. I had the place to myself and liked it. The staff here are very friendly and the service is good. It has the usual café fayre, plus a selection of gluten free cakes. They offer a limited selection of hot dishes, which usually consist of pasta. They mainly serve sandwiches, jacket(baked) potatoes and Panini’s. I enjoyed my visit here today as it served its purpose. It’s not somewhere where you can spend hours over an afternoon of continues refreshments, as it does not have a restroom. It worked well for me today though.

Great venue — sits by the canal with great terrace and open bar space. Especially nice for warm sunny days if you can find a seat. It serves cocktails, and wide range of wines by glasses. The quality of wine and foods are just average but at least you get a nice setting.

What a quaint little café! Stubbled upon this place after wondering around aimlessly in the rain. Went inside and was overwhelmed by the display of yummy looking cakes and such sweet delights! I ordered a coffee and a cake and took a seat in the warm confines of the barge. There were a few other people in sheltering from the rain with coffee and cake too! It was really nice to sit inside in the warm and listen to the rain. My coffee was just what I needed and the cake was great and probably not what I needed, but it was delicious!!! A cute place, worst a visit :-)

I’m(having breakfast) on a boat, don’t you ever forget. I was looking for a morning spot to meet with some people and it had to be light and fun and not crowded and in/near Paddington. What do you know, there’s a place for that. A boat café! Hidden right by the canals, a light, cheap breakfast or lunch spot. The Waterside Café is down the canals(go past Paddington Station and walk the river, you’ll find it.) It holds about 15 people but never seems to have about three or four. There are also tables outside if it’s warm enough. The atmosphere is minimal, as is the menu, but if you’re looking for cheap eggs or toast or coffee and a relaxing place to enjoy them, this is the spot to be. Happy sailing.

Though the only two items that I was in the mood for were not available, nothing beats sitting near the water, enjoying a pleasant cup of tea while people watching. You absolutely forget that you are in busy London, rather you get swept up by the ducks gliding past, Jason’s tour as well as the Water Bus ambling past.

We stopped in for breakfast on our first morning in London, mostly because it was near the hotel. My girlfriend and I both had the fried egg roll(two fried eggs on a baguette). The baguette was good, but as a meal, I’d rather have something I couldn’t make just as easily at home. In short — good, but nothing special. The most memorable part of the visit wil probably be that the café is on a canal boat. I will say that I enjoyed my large cup of filtered coffee(what we would just call coffee in America). It’s surprisingly hard to get a decent pot of coffee, and they were spot on. This place is very small, no more than 4 or 5 tables that seat 3 each. If it’s busy at all, you will probably end up taking away your meal, which wouldn’t be a bad thing, because you can enjoy walking along the canal while eating it.

The Waterside Café is something of an institution. In the summer its outside tables are usually filled by tourists waiting for Jason’s hourly trips up the Grand Union canal to ZFL(the absurdly rebranded London Zoo). The café itself is a greasy spoon that is a cut above the norm. The full English, ham and cheese croissant and bacon baguette together with the decent coffee make this a good place to get brunch. Additionally, it is good value for the area, with an average brunch costing between 5 and 10 pounds.
