Warren Evans

I found out about Warren Evans through friends… I know a few people that bought beds here and all of them seemed really happy months/​years later. I can see why!
The show room is lovely, the staff are knowledgeable but not pushy… and you get to wander around and try out all of the beds — what a brilliant way to shop!
We have had the bed for a couple of months now… and I still love it! It is stylish, really comfy and has storage space for 74 pairs of shoes underneath! What more could a girl want?
The only thing I am unsure about is their sales! Since I bought our bed I have seen quite a few adverts for Warren Evans on the tube/​in timeout etc… and they always seem to have a sale. This means I wouldn’t recommend buying a bed full price, as if you wait a month or two you’d be able to get the bed of your dreams at a bargain price.
*Oops. I almost can’t believe I wrote ‘bed of your dreams’ *groans*

My job as a cube monkey has turned me into a mattress snob. I need a good one, or I’m going to wake up all crinkled and cranky. Upon moving to London and leaving behind our first «wow» mattress, we needed a replacement. I wanted quality and I didn’t want it to be covered in flame retardants that leave you sleeping in a sea of VOCs. I came across Warren Evans online and with the showroom just a short walk away, it was a no brainer.
The showroom as nice — all the models there for us to see with cheery salespeople saying «go ahead, lay on it all the way» and «no worries — you can get your shoes on it.» After hopping around from mattress to mattress, we left the store with two quotes in our hands and guaranteed price even though the sale would have ended before we called in the order. Not bad!
When it was finally delivered the men arrived right on time, were very friendly and careful and were out in about 20 minutes. Amazing.
When I was left to look at the bed for the first time, I wanted to cry. It’s beautiful people, it really is. It just oozes craftsmanship. My favorite part is the little tufted buttons on top!
And, to top it all off, man is this thing comfortable. Absolutely NO complaints from the mattress snob.
**A special note for those of you concerned about harmful chemicals — they have a line of 100% organic mattresses, certified by the soil association. Even the flame retardant is naturally derived. It’s a wonderful feeling to put your head on the pillow at night knowing you’re breathing in clean air!
UPDATE: I’ve now slept on this mattress for about a month and a half, and I just can’t explain how comfortable it is. I used to have to get out of bed after 8 hours because of discomfort, but now I’m sleeping 10 hours and feel fit as a fiddle in the morning!

This is a lovely bed showroom to look around. It’s full of handmade wooden beds made from sustainably sourced wood. So it’s possible to sleep in a Warren Evans bed with a clear conscience and safe in the knowledge you haven’t destroyed the rainforest in order to catch a few zzzz’s.
The showroom is located in a delightfully stripped back old warehouse, just off Columbia Road. You might remember the pottery being here which specialised in making big garden urns, flowerpots and jugs with interesting bright blue glazes.
It’s a shame the potters moved out, but Warren Evans is a worthy successor. And if you’re going to the flower market in Columbia Road on a Sunday, the showroom is open then too and it’s easy to combine the two for a joint flower and bed experience!

Warren Evans bed showrooms are a very pleasant way to choose new beds. We looked round quite a few department stores and matress warehouses and the experience was terrible. Its very difficult to be comfortable on a plastic covered bare matress while a shopping assistant stands over you.
However at Warren Evans the beds are made up with bedding, and the staff are happy to leave you alone so you can try out the beds in peace and relative privacy, and we were able to choose a matress feeling fairly confident that it would suit us.
Recommended (especially if you can’t persuade your better half to buy a bargain bed from ebay)
