very nice atmosphere, rustic and with many candles. We went for dinner and we had wine and a lot of starters and mains to share. The best was some kind of white fish with thinly slices potatoes. I don’t like cheeses but my friends said they were very good. Meat grand selection is also one I would recommend, but is huge! take it at least for 4⁄5 people. as dessert we had poached pear and it was super tasty Why I give it a 3? well I would have given a 4 at least but we arrived for dinner at 9pm(with a reservation) and they said that because it was quite late half of the menu was not available! hope they will plan it right next time

One of the best wine bars to go to meet up with friends. Every time I’ve gone, I’ve had a wonderful bottle. It can get a bit crowded so it’s worth it, so book a table. Great central location.

We headed to Vinoteca(on Beak Street) during London Wine Week as they offering three wines with perfectly matched tapas designed by the head chef, Klaudiusz Wiatrak. I opted for the 2013 Pinot Grigio(Franz Haas — Alto Adige, Ital) with tomato & basil bruschetta before we attacked the bar snacks menu of Pork Crackling with apple sauce, a plate of mortadella(italian sausage to you & me), and a slice of Lincolnshire Poacher cheese with oat cakes and pear chutney — just what i needed! The food was all delicious, especially the crackling. I also had my eye on the bresaola so will have to go back to give it a go!

It doesn’t matter how busy this joint is they have always found a way to get me in. A great selection of wines from the globe although never enough from my beloved California ;) Enjoy your wine with some great cheese, a friendly atmosphere and very attentive staff. One of my favorite London venues.

I love, love, LOVE Vinoteca. This place is really great. Firstly, this location is so nice to meet friends who live all over the map in London. Secondly, the wine is quite nice — you won’t go wrong with whichever bottle you select. I’ve been here several times and it’s a nice ambiance for big groups or an intimate date. The food is really nice, too. They have some spots at the bar and on the side to sit, and some long tables, which my group of 20 was able to sit there for drinking only, which is rare to be able to do that in London without ordering food right away. The prices are reasonable, especially given the quality of wine served. The bartenders are really helpful and speedy. I highly recommend going!

«We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!»… With a restaurant licence, you need to eat something if you intend to drink at Vinoteca — although disappointingly, they don’t appear to have cake. I personally didn’t find having to eat a problem, as we ordered the cured meat selection, the perfect accompaniment to red wine. Whilst some might object to being forced to eat, a pleasant evening sipping red wine and snacking in good company, is pretty much up there as being almost my perfect night, and we would have ordered snacks/food even if it wasn’t a prerequisite. They also have cheese selection and a number of other options as well. Bread appears to be complimentary, as we weren’t charged and comes with olive oil for dipping. Whilst it would have been nice cut a little thinner, I do like nice bread and felt this passed the bar. We ordered a few glasses of wine, ranging from around £15 to £5 a glass, however my favourite had to be the Monsant Criaca, which was actually the cheapest on the menu. I’d also recommend the Duck Pond Pinot Noir, the most expensive, just for the fact you can say you spent £15 on a glass of wine… but also because it has a fantastic warm, subtle fruity taste and was definitely my second favourite. I feel the whole point of coming here is to try as much as you can and if you want to try a wider selection, they also sell smaller 175ml glasses, and these range from around £4 upwards. However we opted for the larger ones and shared and I think between us we tried most of the red on the ‘by the glass’ menu, however I found myself the morning after feeling quite sparky and hang-over free, which I feel testifies to the fabulous quality of the wines. I adore the exposed brickwork and subdued tones in this bar, the large wooden tables and enticing social environment. What I didn’t particular like was that the service was absolutely terrible, we had to get up two or three times to usher someone over to take our order. It was verging on the ridiculous. This said we were sitting at the bar to the side by the door, so it can’t have been that easy for them to see us, and the other tables did get served relatively efficiently. Luckily for them the great wine made up for it! With a £95 for 2 bar tab, it’s not the cheapest night out, although for this we did have 8 large glasses of wine and meat, and I don’t think it so unreasonable — and although maybe not the ‘finest’ these definitely were exceptional wines.

Came here with my very hard to please traditionalist parents(they believe in large portions of hearty food) and overall it was a good experience! The starters were pretty measly — as my very unimpressed mother commented on repeatedly — however we all ordered pork chop for our main and we were all very very impressed — meat was cooked perfectly, sauce was delicious, mash was wonderfully flavoursome and creamy! Really good sized portion too. We all had crumble for dessert which was equally impressive. My parents have even said they’ll come again.

Great wine, nice staff and lovely atmosphere but the food is distinctly average and the communication between kitchen and wait staff is confused leading to mixed up orders and mistakes.

When in a week or so ago and experienced the worst service I’ve had in recent memory, unfathomably treated with open contempt. Really messed with our evening. The waiter looked at me incredulously when I enquired about an item that he’d mentioned contained things not listed on the menu; he didn’t know the details and was annoyed that I asked. He avoided direct eye contact for the rest of the evening, which was just bizarre. When it came to paying the bill — we ended up leaving after our entrées — the server avoided eye contact and handed the payment back to the person I was with(instead of to me, even though it was my card). Really odd, childish behaviour and entirely unwarranted. Would not choose to go back to any Vinoteca — there are no shortage of better alternatives.

I finally went back and tried the food. Like many trendy restaurants, they rotate their menu each day. Most of the dishes are small plates meant for sharing, and they all come with a suggested wine pairing. These guys really know what they’re doing! Basically, everything tasted really good. In particular, they had a REALLY good duck liver pâté special that day. I think the paté was wrapped in a layer of dill butter or something. It was ridiculously tasty. We ordered it three times :-) There was another dish called«middlewhite crackling» — basically, it was deep-fried pork rinds with applesauce, and while it’s weird for me to think of pork rind as gourmet food, I’m on board if it’s done well.

Yum! I happened upon Vinoteca in Soho when my parents were visiting me in London. We were looking for a place to grab a relaxed lunch and nice light meal whilst exploring central London. At first glance of the menu, I wasn’t sure if the 8 – 13 quid for a lunch(+wine) would be worth it, but as our stomachs grumbled we decided to pop in. And i’m glad we did! Each of our dishes(varying from Beef Bourguignon, to confit duck leg, to pollack) was absolutely great quality and I’ve found from subsequent passings that the menu is always changing. The extensive wine list and friendly staff means you can find the perfect pairing for your dish, and if you’re not already a wine lover — this might be the place to start. An extra win — if you decide on the dish of the day, you end up with a better bargain on the wine pairing. At the end of our visit, my father ended up speaking with the bar-back for about 20 more minutes about the wine selection, sourcing, and picking out a few bottles of wine to bring back. In fact, if you’re not looking to stay for lunch or dinner, I would highly recommend popping in for a bottle or two to take home — a much better and affordable selection than popping into your local grocery store. Following this lunch and Vinoteca’s London wine week presence, I can’t wait to start exploring more of their locations and registering for their many wine events!

It is a fun restaurant. Wine angle makes it so. £8 for three Loire valley tasters is too good. All the food was lovely. Mozzarella starter was really tasty. Friends had the chorizo croquettes which were fab. For main, I had the veal, which came with potatoes and carrots — it all went together so well. The carrots were crisp & full of flavour. The boys had a steak each, which they devoured. And the hake risotto looked good too. The dessert of carrot & pecan cake was a bit of a let done but not so bad that it spoilt the night… just didn’t hit the mark. Wine by the glass, paired with your meal at an affordable price. Ingenious.

A very crowded Friday night at Vinoteca. Will stay away from busy nights as it tends to attract a noisy crowd and affects quality of food. We had the gnocchi which was very salty and swimming in clear salty sauce. The ingredients were fresh but the execution was flawed. My wife paid £10.50 for a very average glass of white wine, the organic white for £5.50 was much better. Felt cheated as final bill for 2 small mains and 3 drinks was £68. A nice staff member gave us a discount after we mentioned the fact that we did not enjoy our mains. As is typical we eat the food as we were starving.

Vino, awesome wait staff, good food. Solid. I’ve been coming here for drinkies for awhile now and always found the staff helpful and to really know their stuff when it came to wine. For dinner I had the goat cheese salad starter which was really great and spicy to boot. Was not expecting heat, but it was very welcome. For entrée I had the Chicken Tagine which was huge and delicious. Good thing it was huge because both my friends had a measly 3(dinner size portion) of scallops for their main and they both ended up picking up off my plate. Hate to see people go hungry. The waiter we had was amazing, I can’t recall his name but he was knowledgeable not only of wines and the food but of the economics of the dishes. What fun!

After a long while, I returned to Vinoteca and since then I keep coming back… I am so in love with this place! I love the concept of keeping it nice, modern and simple. I love the incredibly amazing, super fast, really knowledgable and friendly service. I love how clean and well designed this place is. I love the frequently changing menu of both wines and food. And I absolutely love the actual taste of wines and food… So rich — almost pungent — in the best possible way. Your dinner really becomes a powerful experience. I tried few salads and mains and just ‘WOW!’ Fresh, seasonal and creative. Incorporating out of ordinary, in a way touching the traditional staples such as kohlrabi, fresh fennel, artichokes, macadamia nuts and more.

Great spot. The range of food options is excellent, as is the range of wines. The food is delicious and fairly priced. I had beetroot and goat cheese salad to start, in addition to some shared chorizo. For the main I had the roasted hake, which was awesome. I also tried my mate’s steak dish and that too was outstanding. We tried a lot of wine, including several recommended pairings, one red wine flight, and one shared bottle. Most of the wines were good(one was so so) and a few were superb. The service was attentive and friendly. I will definitely return to one of the Vinoteca branches in London.

Wine … Wein … Vino … I love a good glass. Here you can find some nice one, in a nice surrounding. It’s nice. Located in the middle of Soho it doesn’t stand out between its peers. You can find more original place just around the corner, as well as another place like it. The staff was nice enough. The ambient was nice enough and the wine ranges from affordable to expensive. Nice. One great thing: they offer beer from the Camden Brewery. Well done supporting local brewers. Well done indeed.

I typically try to avoid chain wine bars as I find them to be far too much like All Bar Ones — standard generic wine selection, somewhat apathetic wait staff, and a poor excuse for food. Now, there is nothing wrong with going to a chain if your purpose is to chat with a large group with a pint in hand, as so may after work do’s are. But when it’s a quiet dinner with some friends over a choice glass of wine, then there are better options. However, my cousin had raved about this place so I thought I’d try to keep an open mind and check it out. I can admit(somewhat grudgingly) when I’m wrong, and in this case I was very happy to be. Vinoteca Soho breaks out of the mold of chain restaurants from the start with an elegant subdued design that encourages a feeling of intimacy despite being crowded together in tables. There seems to be an implied no-standing policy which helps reduce congestion and the upstairs dining area is considerably more spread out. The staff are very friendly from the greeting at the door to taking your coats(upstairs only) and guiding you to your seat. Our waiter doubled as our sommelier and proved he had the skills to recommend both food and wine. After perusing the menu for a bit, I couldn’t decide and asked for a full bodied spicy red. The glass he brought me met my request perfectly and I happily sipped away in his care for the rest of the evening. Food wise, I also went with his recommendation of the bavette(skirt steak) which boasted a seared crust yet left more than half in a deep pink colour that gushes delicious juice. The thick cut chips are tasty but nothing spectacular. I’d highly recommend a side of colcannon with anything as they make one of the best this side of Dublin. Sadly, my companions were too stuffed for dessert so I can’t comment, but rest assured the next time I’m back I’ll definitely go for it! Overall, hats off to Vinoteca Soho for breaking free of its chain-based start and really making something out of itself.
