Urban Golf

I am a terrible golfer (the kind that quite casually will refer to a club as a stick /​pole /​bat etc). Nevertheless i enthusiastically if somewhat apprehensively joined my colleagues for a few rounds at Urban Golf on a Thursday evening.
The area itself has a strange feeling to it, as if you’re in a waiting room rather than a bar. It’s brightly lit, with low, felty chairs in a strange formation in the middle of the room. It actually took me about 10 minutes to realise we were sat right next to the booths — I had just assumed we were waiting to be moved into a different area.
When it was time for our game, the staff weren’t overly helpful at moving the previous group out of our booth. In the same vein, they didn’t provide any kind of instructions or advice either on the golfing itself, or just how to use the darn computer device.
We began with some practice swings, which was useful for understanding how the sensors worked. They were actually a little frustrating, and we found consistently throughout our session that there were ‘blind spots’ (e.g. at the bottom of the screen), where it just wouldn’t register that you’d hit the ball. Equally, there were a number of instances where the ball seemed to go in a completely different direction to where we had hit it.
After our practices the staff set our 3 booths up to have a contest with each other. They don’t regulate it at all (i.e. It’s based on the premise that you rotate turns amongst every player in your booth, but you could easily cheat by letting the best player take every shot), so perhaps not the best plan for die-​hard golfers or sticklers for the rules, but it was really fun to be competing against each other.
Overall it was a fun evening — but for the price paid, a little more instruction at the beginning would have been appreciated.

A solid spot for a group adventure!
I was looking for a slightly interactive, fun, laid back event for our office folks (with minimal organization needed by me) — and Urban Golf definitely delivered just that.
Simulated golf is really fun! It makes you feel better than you actually are at golf! It’s pretty simple and easy and doesn’t require a lot of athletic talent! Almost anyone can enjoy this. The setup is nice and includes a bar and service right to your «green.»
Also, it’s weatherproof. One might want to consider that in London, I suppose.
Total price for 30 people, 3 hours of private golfing, drinks and food was £2200. A bit spendy, but the food was really nice (very heavy apps, tapas and sliders) and everything ran very smoothly from start to finish.
Would definitely not hesitate to return — if you are looking for something fun and interactive with a group or even just with a few friends, this place is worth a (tee) shot!

Terrible terrible service. Bumped from our booking for the fact that there was a bbc film crew who turned up. And suddenly claimed our 3 hour booking didn’t exist. Shocking treatment of a group who have been frequenting the place for more than 6 years.

Last Friday was my first contact with interior golfing, and my immediate impression was that this place was absolutely great! I have only two words for those of you (like myself) who had never played played interior golf before try it. The simulator is fine tuned so you get to keep all the sensations of the real thing like choosing your club, preparing yourself and finally swinging for the ball. It is actually as difficult as in real life golf so spend quite some time in the rough but at least it was lots of fun! Very smart furniture with leather sofas. The staff was really attentive which added to the overall good experience. The whole atmosphere of this place resembles a futuristic golf club.
I warmly recommend this venue for some genuine fun after work with colleagues or friends.

Brilliant. You have two hours, very realistic, good sporty atmosphere, perfect for a large group of lads. You do 6 holes in each simulator, with real high quality clubs. if you finish early, they put on some games. Service was great, friendly and efficient. Tom the manager was especially brilliant and went extra mile for us. Would go back!

GREAT TIME!
I first inquired about a booking via email and was contacted quickly and they were super helpful and informative. I needed to call in my credit card info to secure my booking and then they emailed me a confirmation. So I went ahead and booked Urban Golf at the Smithfield for my husband’s birthday and let me say that he absolutely LOVED this place.
We went during the lunch special time frame and got a GREAT deal including lunch. The man who was working there was extra friendly and explained how the golfing worked and took care of us with food and beer. We got to choose where we wanted to golf, we chose Hawaii :) It feels pretty realistic while playing and you get a big set of clubs (included in price).
My husband was on cloud nine when he was playing. He lovedddd it and said it was his favorite birthday gift yet. I would definitely recommend this and now my husband wishes there was a place like this where we lived so he could go every week!

Really good simulators, friendly and professional staff, good food and drinks. A great afternoon or evening out or to use as an alternative place for a meeting.

Golf is harder than it looks. Fortunately, in urban golf, you don’t have to walk very far when you blast it off a cliff into the sea. Urban Golf is significantly better than even Wii golf, and it has a bar. My performance peaked around 2 – 3 beers then dropped off. There are around 6 booths were you can play comfortably with 4 people, and a really good putting green (a real plastic one). You can place the ball in the heavy rough, sand etc, and they have a selection of Ping clubs — ranging from the quite hard to use 7 iron, to the impossible to use 3 wood.
I still don’t want to take up golf… but this was a nice distraction.
