Specialties

Restaurant:

A voyage to Trader Vic’s restaurant is a mouth watering adventure of culinary delights. We set the standard for island cuisine in an exotic ambiance with only the best and freshest ingredients sourced from around the globe. Our chefs draw on the various heritages and cultures found in the Polynesian islands that culminate in a true blend of French, Oriental and American cuisines.

Bar:

A breeze through to our Boathouse Bar offers the traveller a hedonistic tropical getaway.

Our collection of the legendary Victor ‘The Trader’ Bergeron’s signature concoctions and much more, are comfortably within the reach of the pleasure seeker, with savoury Tidbits to stem the gratifying flow of the tide.

Here Rums of the Caribbean are the backbone, and where the original Mai Tai, very often imitated but never duplicated, flow with great content to the sounds of Island music that go live from 10.30pm each and every night.

History

Established in 1963.

Trader Vic’s started in 1934, when Victor Jules Bergeron, with a nest egg of $ 700 and carpentry help from his wife’s brothers — plus his mother’s pot-bellied stove and oven –built a cozy pub across the street from his father’s store and called it Hinky Dink’s.

His pungent vocabulary and ribald air made him a popular host, as did his potent tropical cocktail concoctions and delicious Americanized adaptations of Polynesian food, and Trader Vic’s soon became one of the most popular watering holes in Northern California’s Bay Area, attracting sophisticated urbanites like writers Herb Caen and Lucius Beebe.

The Trader eventually opened 25 Polynesian-style restaurants around the world, of which our very own London bar is one. Staying true to Trader Vic’s ethos, the London bar adds a welcome beacon of tropical sunshine to the dark London underground.

Trader Vic’s is the legendary cocktail bar and restaurant for tropically minded urbanites.
