For a currency exchange service it really comes down to the offered rates, and Thomas Exchange are the best. When I was trying to trade USD for GBP, the rates at M&S and the post office were horrible, but Thomas Exchange offered a rate very close to the going exchange rate.
This exchange office is conveniently located next to Regent Street. Their website says they open at 9am but when I showed up around 8:45ish they were open already. The transaction was really fast and straightforward. It seems they also offer an international money transfer service which could be useful.
