Went for a drink during Happy Hour. In addition to the bad /slow service, the server attempted to keep, without my permission, 4 pounds change from the 10 pounds note that I gave to her to pay for my wine. Although the manger tried to explain the theft by stating the worker was«new«(no connection at all!!), my change was finally returned. Most unpleasant.

went based on Unilocal and proximity to my hotel. A few things: 1. definitely not a pub(in the traditional sense) 2. Decent wine by the glass options(I had a nice Rioja) 3. food– average at best 4. atmosphere– seems confused between club, restaurant and wine bar. Lots of after work happy hour folks… very few eating(should have understood what that meant) All in, not bad but nothing special. Definitely better options in the area and certainly nothing unique. Would have given it 2.5 stars if possible.

How convenient?! Just steps away from St. Paul’s. We may not have been business lunching, but we were trying to get a quick lunch before our next tours. When we arrived there were still a number of tables left, both inside and outside, but seeing as how the sun was out and it was a lovely day, we opted for outside. The wait staff always looked a bit frantic. Our waitress had trouble understanding much of what we ordered, often saying, «What???» It made me worry a little bit, and in a moment I will elaborate on why that worry was warranted. Anyway, I ordered the Slow Roasted British Belly of Pork and the rest of the table ordered: Wild Mushroom Risotto, Ploughmans Platter, Antipasto Sandwich, and the soup of the day and the Stuffed Portobella Mushroom. The food came out fairly quickly… although my Pork and mashed potatoes were not hot. Everything except Work BFF’s Stuffed Portobella Mushroom arrived. We decided to go ahead and start, thinking it would come along in a minute. As we dug in, a waitress with another Wild Mushroom Risotto arrived and looked confused when we said we had not ordered that, but again did not think anything of it. The pork belly was really good… not the absolute best I have had, but definitely worth the money. There were some crispy bits, but overall because of the jus, there is not a lot of crispy cracklin’… just in case that’s what you are looking for. Besides the overwhelming amount of parsley on top, the dish was really good… mashed potatoes creamy and the jus was absolutely delicious. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food… Casual Ian almost ready to lick his plate. However, Work BFF still had not received her stuffed mushroom. We waved down a couple different waitresses because each time we said something, nothing happened. At this point, we needed to leave and Work BFF did not want to eat her lunch after we were all finished. Yet again, another waitress came out with a plate(I imagine the same plate…) of Wild Mushroom Risotto. Work BFF explained(for third… possibly fourth time. I admit I lost count) that she had ordered a stuffed portobella mushroom, but as the rest of the table was finished, they did not need to bring it out, but it needed to be removed from our check. The waitress looked like a cross between mortified and confused and simply said, «Sorry.» We waited again for the bill to arrive after we asked a couple of waitresses(ours… never anywhere to be found). When it arrived, not only had Work BFF’s stuffed mushroom been taken off, but Casual Ian’s Wild Mushroom Risotto had been removed as well. No. We did not correct them. I know. Say what you want, but in my perspective, we did not have time to sit and wait any longer for it to be corrected… Work BFF’s perspective may be slightly different. Anyway, the food was good, price… for the area was probably reasonable, anywhere else it could’ve been considered slightly pricey, but the service was hit and miss.

Right next to the St. Paul’s Cathedral is this modern British restaurant. If you like British food and don’t want to go to a pub, want good service, good food and nice presentation, this is the place to go. It is not noisy so perfect for lunch meetings. We had the set menu for £15 and really enjoyed the meal. I will be coming back.

I have been in London a week and am getting tired of traditional pub fare already, so this restaurant was a welcome change. A lovely restaurant tucked away in the shadow of Saint Paul’s Cathedral, The Saint serves up delicious and flavorful modern European fare. I went here for a late dinner with four of my friends and not only was the food delicious, but the prices were not over the top for the quality of food offered. I would highly recommend the Guinness Burger and the Risotto. Both were fresh and full of flavor. Start with a shared plate of meats and cheeses sure to please the whole table and give the wine and cocktail list special attention. The Saint offers some very good and creative specialty cocktails and wines from all over the world. Again, the drinks are priced affordably as well. A wonderful place for a business luncheon or dinner and drinks with friends, the restaurant also has a large bar area. Most prominent is the lovely dining atmosphere. We were lucky enough to sit outside in the patio area and had a clear view of Saint Paul’s, a gorgeous accompaniment to our delicious meal.

From the other reviews, it sounds like this place is alright during the day for food. I can’t say I recommend it at night. A friend of mine works in the city and we came to The Saint for a Friday night glass of wine and some snacks. Overly loud music for a place which is clearly not a club. City prices for very mediocre nachos. Filthy toilets, even though it wasn’t that late. I wouldn’t go another time, but I’m not going to totally slam it, because I don’t think any of other places around there are any better.

Deeeelicious. Great menu selection! Had a good glass of wine and a smoked chicken salad. Finished off with some lovely fresh mint tea. Close to work so it was very convenient, and the ambiance was very peaceful and chic. I’d love to come back :)

Our first team lunch at work was held here at The Saint, in lovely Paternoster Square near St. Paul’s Cathedral. The thing I love most about London is not knowing what’s around the corner. I mean that in a happy surprise way, not in a ‘scared to venture beyond your front door’ way. From walking down Cannon Street, with all of its hustle and bustle, I had no idea that this magnificent square with a fountain and hundreds of al fresco lunchers was just below the massive cathedral. A colleague of mine chose The Saint because it seemed the least busy and the most group-friendly for lunch. She was right. Even with our party of 13, they were able to seat us right away during the lunch rush. I enjoyed ‘The Saint’ sandwich — chicken, bacon, avocado and lettuce on thick granary bread, served with some tortilla chips. What I would call a California Club, if I was in the states. It was okay… nothing to write home about. But the service made up for the lack of excitement on my plate. A neighbouring colleague had an amazing looking salad: smoked salmon with beetroot, couscous, and rocket. I had lunch envy. Certainly a business lunch type of a place, if you’re looking for somewhere quiet in the heart of THECITY and don’t want to deal with lines and the 43253rd sandwich shop on the block.
