The Running Horse is a true gem of surviving pub tradition in the middle of Mayfair.

The original building was first transformed into a Tavern in 1738 and like many in its day seeking Royal protection, its name derived from the «Galloping Horse of Hanover». It has survived to become one of the oldest public houses in Grosvenor, Mayfair.

The Running Horse has a fine selection of drinks to go with the enticing menu in the ground floor bar area, or in the dining area upstairs — which also doubles as an ideal location for a private gathering or get together.

This beautiful pub is not the best value in town, but the location is great. They’ve got cozy furniture and the eclectic mix of tables and chairs. Upstairs is a «cocktail» area that doubles as a showroom of vintage furniture. Definitely an oasis for the weary shopper and wanderer. I feel like a lot of the pictures on Unilocal for this location are from a previous design scheme, as the place now feels dark and intimate.

Decent lunch, pretty good beer and ale selection, not great service. We also sat outside, as it was full inside (a good sign) so we may have been easily forgotten on accident. Not a bad place by any means but not very memorable either.

I am a Japanese tourist in London who came from Cincinnati Ohio, USA where my wife and I live. This is a great pub. I have been to, as tourists all do, many pubs in London and this place serves the best food hands down.

Food decent, taps we’re not working, lamb burger a bit rare and bun cold. 10% promo discount denied because «under new ownership» wait staff had no clue what Unilocal is. I would have given this place four stars because overall the experience was decent. Waitstaff made accommodations to serve 1.5 hours before dinner was served and they were very cute and sweet so we were please but I knocked them down due to undercooked burger and not honoring discount. Decided to knock my 4 star to a 2 after finding out they have only one bottled beer to offer and no taps after THREE weeks of service. I would never ever open a business with so little foresight. Ok I put the review back to 4 stars because they honored the 10% discount :-) … With a smile.

Decent enough pub just off of Oxford street. All dark wood and poshness, with prices to match. A surprising pub to pop into of a Saturday night.
Pride plus a couple of guest ales on tap — and not the usual suspects.
A very swank crowd — I felt a wee bit underdressed, but that doesn’t really bother me, and no one gave any stick for it.
The sort of place you wouldn’t go out of your way for, but if you’re near Bond Street Station and stuck for something to drink, you could do (a LOT) worse…

Defintely worth walking the 100 metres further away from Oxford Street to get here rather than taking the easy option and heading for the big dirty pub the name of which I can’t remember right by Bond Street station. This pub is much better, quite small and cosy so feels like a mates front room. Which is nice.

I have only been to this charming gastropub for pre-​prandial drinks, on a Friday night. Which meant that it was choca-​block with people enjoying drinks after a long week.
Though I wasn’t there for long, I definitely wouldn’t mind going back again as it seems like quite an inviting, warm place. The man who took my drinks order at the bar was very jolly and we shared a few giggles over my order. Having cheerful staff, especially during such a crowded evening, definitely makes ones’ experience more enjoyable.
Next time I would prefer to go when it’s less crowded, possibly for some late lunch and try out something from their scrumptious looking food menu, which serves up some traditional English grub.

One of the better pubs that is easily accessible from Oxford Street. It has really benefited from a full refurbishment in relatively recent years and is great for food and drinks. Prices are reasonable and a there is great atmosphere too. You’ll find the crowd who visit are local business people, local residents and shoppers. Tourists don’t seem to have discovered this place yet but nevertheless it is always full but it is usually possible to find somewhere to sit. A great pub to visit whatever the occasion and an excellent location too.
