Quick glance: + hidden gem + fun cocktails + nice atmosphere + friendly staff Full review: I came to Potting Shed to meet a friend for drinks. The venue is hidden in a basement of what otherwise looks like homes and offices. I would have easily missed it if I wasn’t looking for it. When you enter, you are looking pretty much at the bar area where you can have a pre-dinner drink, if you were having dinner at the restaurant in the next room. Otherwise, as we did on a Monday evening, you can partake in just drinks in a warm and intimate setting. The cocktail menu is varied, and there is a good selection of wines available, although not much in the way of beer if you like your lager and ales. As we sipped our cocktails, the complimentary nuts kept coming which was a nice touch. Great place to catch up with a friend over drinks.

Potting Shed is a charming little restaurant in the basement of the Dorset Square Hotel. It’s a quick walk to the Marylebone Station. As everywhere on M high street was packed on a Thursday, PS easily booked us in for a dinner for 4 at 8PM. The restaurant has a great atmosphere for dinner and conversation. Service was attentive and polite throughout. I went for the poached egg starter and PS burger — perfectly cooked and flavorful! The almond and pear tart with clotted cream was also great. Great place to bring the parents or have a chill dinner out.

This was a lovely experience. A very charming restaurant. The food was very flavorful. My mashed potatoes were a bit cold, but the problem was corrected promptly and nicely.

Lovely place with great staff and good food. I had a very nice meal(goats cheese to start, lamb main and crime caramel desert) but a few of my fellow guests didn’t agree. The fish starter and the steak main could have been better and the spinach side was beyond bland! I was pleased with my choice and enjoyed the whole evening –wine was also fab.

The Potting Shed Bar & Restaurant, a stone’s throw from Marylebone Station, does a good chicken roast — worth a try if you’re looking for lunch or dinner in the area. One Saturday on my way home, I walked past The Potting Shed Bar & Restaurant in Marylebone near the station and thought it might be worth a visit. So a few weeks later I decided to head there for dinner. The Potting Shed is a little gastropub in the basement of a Marylebone hotel. The place sports a selection of cricket relics, and other than that, the room, or maybe more accurately rooms, is dominated by light green colours and a white ceiling, which made a nice contrast to the dark, wooden floor. Overall, the place looks modern with stylish lamps and a few typical contemporary hipster-style elements. Depending on where you sit, the atmosphere can vary widely — there is a large communal table, two booths, a row of small lounge tables and also a more typical restaurant area. Altogether, an interesting mix, including the patchy, artsy stools around the lounge tables. The background music at The Potting Shed added to the relaxed and casual atmosphere. It was not too load and just right to provide some convenient background noise. I started my dinner with a white wine, a 2013 Picpoul de Pinet from Languedoc which came quickly and was alright. Not the best wine ever, but absolutely fine. It took a while until a friendly breadman came to offer me a little bun. It was piping hot, that’s probably why it took some time. It tasted good and came with a bit of butter, just like you would expect. My roast Suffolk chicken was perfectly cooked and was rich in flavour. The carrotts on the plate were cooked slightly too long for my taste, as I prefer them a bit firmer and not too soft. I was not convinced when I read celeriac purée on the menu, but actually it blended well with the delicious chicken gravy and definitely added something to the dish. The hand-cut chips were kind of thick, but not too thick to cool down during my dinner. Once I came to terms with the size and the temperature, I did really enjoy the chips. Some were properly crispy, others were a bit softer, still alright. In summary, The Potting Shed is a friendly and quiet place with quality food. Definitely a gastropub I can recommend for dinner or lunch.

It’s surprisingly hard to find a relaxed quiet slightly upscale place for client meetings near Baker St and this one fits the bill perfectly. Great cocktails and atmosphere. Service was exceptional and friendly, though to be fair, it was almost empty.

Came here for dinner last night and was impressed! They just opened a week ago, but there were none of the usual ‘just opened’ issues. Our waiter was very attentive, and even made a main dish(truffle mac and cheese) into a starter portion so we could try it. My group’s favorites were the roast chicken, lamb stew, and the soup. Everybody loved their food and even took their scraps home. The cocktails were also great. I didn’t get to try dessert but would definitely come back again and taste something then! This is great new restaurant and it will only get better as they settle in

Really good food and a good selection of wines in this basement type restaurant. Service has always been good and the menu changes regulaly. Good value. There is a great murial on the back wall depicting Lords Cricket and London Zoo which is completly out of scale but worth a look.
