The Place to Eat

The newly refurbished riverside café and restaurant opened in late September. Accessible directly from the Thameside, or via the toy department, it’s an impressive and welcome transformation. With almost full length windows, there’s plenty of comfortable seating, so that you can enjoy panoramic riverside views, as you eat or drink.
Wide-​ranging food choices are available, on five counters, from snacks (including gluten-​free bakery items) to mouth-​wateringly indulgent sweet treats, appetisers, hot and cold meat, vegetarian and fish main courses and enticing-​looking sandwiches. My espresso was delicious and reasonably priced at £1.40 but I was a little shocked to find that a roll (to accompany a bowl of soup) was a fairly hefty 95p (a sign of the times, I know).
Attractive water-​themed artwork lines the walls, staff are smiling and enthusiastic (although some of the tables could have done with being cleared and cleaned); the place has an appealingly bright, fresh look and wonderful views. A useful stopping-​off point on a shopping trip or riverside walk.
