The first thing you notice when you get upstairs to The Pig and the Goose is that it’s immaculately clean, unlikely many other pubs. The décor is comfortable and makes you feel like you’re in someone’s home.
The wait staff is very well trained and they were extremely courteous and friendly. Jeppe, my waiter, even handed me a Trip Advisor card at the end with his name on it for reference. I thought that was a nice touch.
The menu has a good amount of variety including some more adventurous options. The wine list is solid with plenty of options and good recommendations.
When it comes to the actual meal the bread was delicious, soft and warm and the butter added a lot of flavor. I opted for the confit rabbit tagliatelle with wild mushrooms and tarragon butter. I also ordered the braised ox cheek with mashed potatoes in a red wine jus. The rabbit was delicious and it was a generous portion. The ox cheek was equally delicious. It was cooked perfectly, very tender and the jus was a nice touch.
