In the heart of Chelsea our gourmet food shop is world famous for our award winning cheese straws and delicious sausages, which attract customers from near and far.

Our kitchen at the shop produces fresh, seasonal food including freshly made bakery and patisserie, delicious hot lunches and soups to take away, along with a menu that changes daily. We have a tasty selection of salads, quiches, sausage rolls and chicken drumsticks perfect for breakfast, lunch or supper.

Our ‘freezer food’ section contains a delicious range of favourite home made meals which include Shepherds Pie, Thai Green Chicken Curry and Boeuf Bourguignon. They are perfect for an easy dinner party or simply a quiet supper at home.

In addition to the shop The Pie Man Catering Company has established itself as one of the leading party organisers and caterers in London, Hampshire and the Home Counties. We have gained an enviable reputation for amazing parties, delicious food and excellent service.

History

Established in 1984.

The business was founded by Murray Tollemache in 1984 with the aim of providing delicious food at affordable prices. The shop has enjoyed a loyal following ever since and is now serving a second generation of customers who still enjoy the delicious variety of dishes we offer.

Business Owner

Murray started the Pie Man in 1984, as a young man with a passion for good food. The Shop on Chelsea Green has remained an integral part of the set-​up ever since, which now includes both a corporate and a consumer catering company. The shop has always been a stalwart but has really hit its stride in the last ten years, under a new manager. It offers fantastic food with a smile for a reasonable rate, and you just can’t beat the location; Chelsea Green is a beacon of London life, and the Pie Man adds to that.

I see that every one of the reviews before me is a 4-​star one and it pretty much coincides with my opinion of this cute little place. The food is great and consist of delicious sausages and chicken bites. They make some of their food onsite and the other part is being sent from the external kitchen. I think the whole lot of menu is great but I’d really prefer a meal prepared minutes before I eat it.
The sweet talk of the staff is another pro of the Pie Man; who wouldn’t want to be treated nicely and given compliments on meal choices.

Dropped in while walking in the area. What a wonderful little shop. A small shop filled with the most delicious pies I’ve ever had. I just with I had more time to try some of the other pies they offer.
I got a steak and kidney and a curry chicken pie, both were excellent.

I thought the previous review was not only very harsh but also far from correct.
I have worked in the area for over 6 years and have seen fluctuating fortunes in the Pie man. For a number of years this place was just about sausage rolls, pies and frozen ready meals which were not helping there cause. Recently they have a new manager/​chef who is producing some very high quality and imaginary lunches. They have installed a coffee machine that produces really great beverages and I now see queues outside of the like I haven’t seen for 5 years. They are using local products from the fishmonger, butcher and baker on Chelsea Green and it really shows in the taste. I honestly thought this place, two years ago, was going to close, but now i believe its here to stay and is a great asset to the area.
A tip — When you go in for lunch ask them what they have made on site that day and avoid what has been sent in by there outside kitchen. Although anyone who has an eye for food could tell immediately. Unfortunately it would seem that maybe ‘seriousfoodie’ (the previous reviewer) decided to buy sent in lasagne and frozen fish pies maybe not that serious?

The Pie Man has been going for over 20 years and no one can fill a picnic basket better than him. It’s a traditional deli, with mostly British food (pies, quiches, sausages rolls, chicken drumsticks, cooked sausages) and some Brit-​Continental offerings.
It is essentially a deli, but they also do hot soups and lunches that I’ve eaten on many occasions and it’s always been great, especially on a cold, rainy day, you can’t beat some British comfort food. I love their flapjacks, the golden syrup type, thankfully not the healthfood shop ones that have less taste than a square of mdf. The brownies are also great, full of chunky chocolate and macadamia nuts.
If you really can’t get enough of it they also have a freezer full of hearty frozen meals such as shepherds pie, fish pie and slow roasted lamb tagine. I think their pastry is some of the best pie pastry I’ve eaten, and you won’t be disappointed if you take one of their Chicken, Mushroom and Tarragon Pie’s home with you. The staff are as good as the food too which makes calling in here a real pleasure.
If I was having a summer garden party, with a nice big gazebo, then I would definitely enrol The Pie Man to fill my guests up with fantastic finger food. But, until I win the lottery I’ll just make do with taking his gorgeous food to the park for mini picnics.

Perfect little deli and lunch spot in Chelsea green, they do comfort food better than anyone. Remember cheese sticks? Well, it’s their specialty, along with picking food like drumsticks, sausages, salads and of course pies. I gorged myself on their sticky brownies and flapjacks the last time I was in here, which are all baked fresh.
The best part about The Pie Man is their catering service. If you’re not short of a bob or two but haven’t got bags of time, then they’ll prepare your dinner party meal for you with classics like Shepherds Pie, Thai Green Chicken Curry and Boeuf Bourguignon and you can take all the credit. It’ll be a few years before I can afford to be this lavish but I’ve got their card for when that day finally comes!

Ah les pies anglaises, ce truc bizarre a mi-​chemin entre la quiche et la tourte.
Mais celles-​ci sont bonnes, voire meme tres bonnes. La steak and guiness est un delice et vous met l’eau a la bouche mais il y en a plein d’autres qui rendent le choix difficile.
Ils ont aussi d’autre petites choses a manger, tel que des saucisses, des pilons de poulet ou des salades. Tout est frais et la plupart des choses sont faites sur place.
On y trouve aussi une selection de jus de fruits et autres choses desalterantes.
On peut egalement commander des repas tout prets et les prix sont acceptables (pour Chelsea).
Un petit conseil aussi, essayez les batons biscuit et chocolat, je traverserais tout Londres juste pour un petit bout, c’est a tomber
