I really like The Maida Vale tandoori. It really has a lot going for it. However, guys, you really have to stop pushing your one good press review from, like, 1957. I have eaten in the restaurant many times, however I normally have a delivery from there. When doing so, I must say, it has been painful to communicate with some of the staff that they stick on the phone. I’ve even had them ask if they can call me back later! Normally they deliver to me within a 45 to 60 minute time scale. So… Let’s get down to the dishes that they serve. They do a great mixed meat thali here. Meat. Lots o’ meat. The jalfrezis, bhunas and rogans are all tip top performers. The korma and balti dishes are better elsewhere. They do good breads, but ruin it all by putting the naan and popadoms in brown paper bags that quickly loose heat and get soggy during delivery. All round, the dishes all have a fresh, homemade taste to them. Ingredients are all good generally, but I have had some mutton-like chewiness to the lamb before. Check the saag paneer out. It’s the best I have had. Enjoy!

Vile. Overcooked chicken, previously frozen naan bread. Mingin. Will feel lucky if I don’t get food poisoning.

There are a lot of Indian takeaways in the Vale, and this is undoubtedly the best. I’m a huge fan of dahl, and theirs is fabulous. Tasty, just the right mixture of lentil and sauce. Just gorgeous. I usually get that with paratha bread and butter chicken. The korma is good too, and they do nice fluffy pilau. The only thing I’d steer clear of is the samosas. They’re obviously homemade, but are just a little too doughy for me :) Always on time, and not too pricey either.

I feel very lucky that The Maida Vale Tandoori is my local Indian restaurant because the food is fantastic and great value for money. I highly recommend the lamb dhansak which has just the right blend of sweet and savoury spices. The chicken biyrani is another favourite also the keema naan is very good– in fact everything I have ever eaten from the menu has always been great. The interior is a no frills ‘typical’ Indian restaurant but I who cares about the décor when the food is so good? Not me! The staff are genuinely friendly without being imposing. Even if this is not your local it is still worth a visit.

During the 80s Ken Livingstone gave this a capital radio review, it is very traditional indain food some dishes very greasy, but nice tikka sizzling to your table, food is nice. it has a traditional décor with elephants everywhere. valus for money £10 per head and although it is not that central it is worth a cab of drive parking free after 18:30. atompshere nice and waiters cant do enough
