It’s nice to find a pub in Wandsworth that isn’t a Young’s pub. The Hop Pole is a Shepherd Neame pub and it has their Spitfire, Oranjeboom and Master on draft. But unfortunately that’s as far as the ‘craft’ beer goes. It has a nice feel this pub, a proper pub with locals and friendly staff. Lots of screens showing sport too. Food is Thai, which was a bit of a mixed bag for us. The thai fish cakes were old and soggy but the prawn green curry had succulent king prawns and a delicious sauce. £20 for 2 currys, 2 rice and fish cakes. I wouldn’t rush back to The Hop Pole but i enjoyed my visit.

This is one of the better pubs in Wandsworth, but it is a little way from the High Street. The beer is from Shepherd and Names. The bar food is a thai menu, very tasty and not over priced. There are also flat screen tvs for the sports fans

Just off the main roads of Wansworth this is a nice little pub with some good sport options on the TV. Serving up some Shephard Neame ales you will get some good drinks here. The furniture however is not comfortable for me which makes it difficult to stay here for more than a couple of brewskis. For food there is an interesting Thai menu, which is the thing to do these days. The locals appeared to like it. Seems to be a bit of a boys pub however, so not the eclectic social.

Really nice pub, pulling in a regular crowd of Irish people, sports fans and at the weekend those who have played football down the park further down Putney Bridge Road at Wandsworth Park. One of the orginal subcribers to Setanta Sports, they have kept their Irish service for the Gaelic Games. This also means that they show three games in a row on Saturday afternoon. The middle one(usally not shown) is on Setanta Ireland so it is full of crazy Irish ads and will always be Liverpool or Man Utd at home. If these are televised on Sky sports then they will pick up Sunderland(Irish connections of Keane and Quinn) or Arsenal’s games. The staff are Irish, as are some of the regulars. You will be mistaken if you think that this is a place to drink quietly on a Saturday as, the atmosphere is heated as the pub is warm. Being only two shop units in size means that the place feels busy with 20 people in and around the bar. There is a tiny beer garden out back and clean toilets. Beers here are provided by Shepard Neame, so forget about Fosters, it is Oranjeboom(£3), Hoslten Export or hurllimann at £3.10 a pint. Food is available and is rather good if I say so myself. You can get a limited English menu of chips, toast etc, or go Thai. The kitchen staff are Thai and put on a good spread. The Pad Thai is great as are the curries, here which come with excellent sticky rice. I really like this pub and would reccommend it to a friend who loves watching football, eating Thai food and drinking beer. Now who do I know who fits that bill?

You’ve got to see this, an Irish pub that’s actually Irish! The prices are standard for the area(as in expensive) but the beer is pretty good and the food is great for the price. They also have Setanta and are packed with football fans so you’ll never miss out on the match. They also show the Gaelic Games.
