Description

Specialties

Home to one of London’s top comedy clubs and has regular stand-up comedy, live music and quiz nights. Forest Hill’s award winning HOB has a truly relaxed, friendly atmosphere with a wide range of lagers, wines and Cask Marque approved real ales.

Winning the Bronze Medal in Smooth FM’s Love London Awards for Best Music Venue in 2009 was one of our true highpoints. Coming in ahead of Hammersmith Apollo and Wembley Arena was very special … if just a little odd!

The HOB really does try to create a fun, friendly and safe atmosphere where everyone can relax and enjoy the great real ales, wines and spirits in great company. Hopefully, we get there. Come and join the party!

As Al Murray, The Pub Landlord said, «It’s so much more than just a great pub!»

Comedy is on every Saturday with an open mic and new material night on Mondays. Live music every Friday.

History

Established in 2005.

Emma and Ron Emslie have been involved in running comedy clubs since 1989 when they started in East Dulwich.

When the various venues wanted their function rooms back to take advantage of the gastropub boom EDComedy moved and moved. Finally, Emma and Ron decided enough was enough.

They bought the lease to The HOB in 2005 to bring the very best in Stand Up Comedy and Live Music to Forest Hill.

As it turned out their love of proper community pubs, good ale and good people helped them get established and allowed them to make The HOB into exactly the kind of pub they would like to walk into and stay for a while.
