My favourite food in London. I come here every Saturday since 2011. Great food, good service, the guys are always in a good mood, and the reggae music makes the experience very friendly. Make sure that you add Halloumi cheese!

When you’re pulling your hair out because the frackin’ group can’t make up their collective minds where to go for lunch, it’s off to Borough Market where the choices at the various stalls are numerous. I’d make a beeline for the Manor… The Guildable Manor is about as good as it gets for a great sandwich at the ‘Market’ from their cart outside! I had to try the Wild Boar and Venison(with slaw of course) on a hunk of fresh bread. Amazing. Once received, you have a selection of sauces to apply, and the staff is more than helpful in making suggestions — but you are in full control. Their banter is refreshing and sometimes entertaining as you wait for your food. As someone mentioned, the line gets long because the sandwiches are so good — get there early or be ready to wait(it’s worth it.)

Amazing lamb baguette! The queue was well worth it.

This place is under Borough Bridge but it was difficult to find, it is next to Café Brood and on the same side as the church(don’t know the name). We ordered the lamb specialty baguette(fresh mint, coriander, smoked paprika, and cumin) and the Game specialty baguette(venison, wild boar, red wine, fresh apricots). There is a market place here that sells tons of fresh produce and various types of organic meats, basically a farmer’s market. We were happy and satisfied with our baguettes. The meats had TONS of flavor and we added salsa verde sauce to our baguettes. The meats were moist, not dry and the baguette was not stale. The staff was friendly and we thought the price was reasonable. I would make the suggestion to use a smaller baguette because the ratio between bread and meat is off. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would come here again. It is some excellent flavorful street food.

Easily the best chicken sandwich I have ever eaten. Need to go back every weekend for a different sandwich, and then start on the sausages. Do not be put off by the line, it will take you that long to decide which kind of meat you want.

What they serve up here is basically an entire gourmet meal — we’re talking perfectly-seasoned meat cooked precisely to your liking, selected veggies, crisp salad, tantalising sauces and a flourish of presentation — encased in a transportation vehicle which happens to be made of bread. Frankly it’s such a work of art that I don’t want to sully it with the name«sandwich» but yeah, if we’re going to be pedantic about it then fine, that’s what it is. It’s a bloody sandwich, all right? Although if we’re going down that route then it’s one of the best bloody sandwiches in Borough Market and let me tell you, food fans, that is saying something. The one reason they don’t get five stars is because when I went there with my(irritatingly beautiful) friend, the flirty cooks only had eyes for her and getting them to focus on my meal was a gargantuan task. At one point they even asked her if she wanted mint sauce on her lamb when that was my flipping order and she was already holding hers. GENTLEMEN. I appreciate that she has the face of an angel and the figure of a Greek goddess but I’m ravenous and you’re standing very close to a scalding grill. Let’s focus on the task at hand, shall we?

So another place in London that I would recommend: It’s a Grill at the Borough Market and usually there is a very long line.(that’s why I went for it cuz longest line at the delicious Borough Market should mean best Baguette logically :)) You can get Lamp, Chicken, Mixed Game(whatever that means) Beef aaaaaaaaaaand Halloumni! Never heard of it before, a greek cheese for the grill DELICIOUS!! They are really nice eventho a lil rough but hey u r at a Market so it needs to be fast :) The baguette was a really good choise cuz of the cheese, the salad and a very delicious sauce(many variatons and handmade!!!) I wanna go back as soon as I can and get MORE!!! Loved it! Actually the whole Market! I don’t really remember how much it costs but in between 6 – 10 bucks.

I came here on a cheeky Friday afternoon lunchtime jaunt. Actually I was heading to borough market anyway to pick up some gluten free brownies for my wheat intolerant sugar-fiend friend who I am visiting tomorrow, but I thought I might as well indulge in a little lunchtime goodness whilst I was there :) I chose this stall firstly because I think I have eyed it up each time I have been to the market(which, for the length of time I’ve lived in london, is a disgusting amount too many!), but also because it had a massive queue, and I think massive queues can be a good sign! In this case, it definitely was. It took me the length of the queue to decide between halloumi and chicken so it was just as well it was so long(it did move very quickly though, so don’t let it put you off!) I went with chicken in the end, because as much as I love halloumi, I want to curl up and die when I get a bit that squeaks when I chew it! the cooks were very funny and friendly, giving my boyfriend a hard time for choosing a cheese toastie from kappacasein, and explaining to me what sauce options I should have if I liked a little spice(I love a little spice!) My baguette was delicious. It had salad leaves, lots and lots of flavourful chicken and I added harissa, salsa verde and aioli and mmm oh my, delightful! It was huge, and very satisfying, and I think worth the £4.80. I have a rule where I can’t eat from the same stall at borough market twice because there is just so much to try. I already broke that with the veggie table, and I might just have to break that here too(I’ll get the halloumi next time though, I promise!)

Tucked away on the edge of the Borough Market, The Guildable Manor is a tasty place for a sandwich if you are in the area. They have several options, but being a stall-type operation, it’s not a hugely extensive menu. That said, what they do have is very good. With the exception of the chicken, which appeared to feature chopped grilled chicken chunks, the other options are kabob-style tubes of meat grilled and slapped into a baguette. You have a choice of sauces to add, the harrissa was good, and the salsa verde was excellent. We had those on the lamb with mint, coriander, paprika, and cumin, and it was delicious. The meat was tender and juicy, and packed with flavor, and generally excellent. If I had been in London for more than a weekend I would absolutely have gone back again to try the game or beef. I just wish there was a place like this near me…

I really enjoyed this place(NB I visited their lunchtime grill). Freshly cooked meat, great sauces(I tried harrissa and salsa verde), super friendly staff, fun music, and yes, a free lolly(sandwiches are now £4.80). I was surprised there weren’t more people eating here because it’s so good! I will definitely return to sample their other sandwiches, in the interests of keeping the Unilocal community fully informed. One thing that needs improving is the bread — it’s too tough. Fix that and this place is golden.

Delicious fresh food, quick service, witty banter from friendly cooks I work at London Bridge so I often wander over to Borough Market on the latter half of the week for a bite to eat for lunch. My aim to try everything at least once, and with that in mind I stopped at the Guildable Manor to check it out. Well that’s not quite true. I could smell the sizzling meats from the road and followed my nose to see what was going down. First off, gotta note that this wasn’t the formal restaurant but rather the pop up stall they’ve got next to Café Brood. Since it’s just there for lunch, the menu is limited to 4 staples(beef with jalapenos, mixed game with apricots, lamb with smoked paprika and coriander, and a veggie option with haloumi cheese) and a special(today was a veal with sundried tomatoes). The meats are shaped into kebab form(the long cyndrical pieces from the Middle East not the stuff you get from a dodgy shop at 3am) and cooked in front of you. It comes served on a fresh baguette stuffed with rocket, pickled red onions, and other random veggies. Once you have your meat and baguette, you can pick from a variety of sauces ranging from harissa to salsa verde to a sweet chilli. All of these are homemade and delicious. I opted for the harissa as I’m a spice addict and a bit of garlic aioli to smooth it all together. The meat was tender and flavourful, almost making me wish I hadn’t bothered with the sauces. However, the harissa was exceptional, almost as good as what you can get in Morocco itself. The harissa had a bite at the beginning that continued to warm as the slightly oily taste washed over your tongue, letting the flavours linger longer than ordinarily you’d expect. The meat provided a solid foundation, cooked long enough to release the taste without going into the tough and chewy territory. The veggies were fresh, providing a range of textures to contrast the tender meat and fluffy bread. I’m definitely putting this on a must try list for Borough(whenever I get around to writing a list down!). For £4.50, its a solid lunch option that will keep you full for the rest of the day. Oh, and they give you a free lollipop as you leave… how cool is that?
