Great new lunch spot near my office. I had high hopes for such a puntastic name and they had big shoes to fill opening on the former site of the City institution that was Fuzzy’s Grub, but the lunchtime queues winding out onto Bow Lane seem to indicate they’ve smacked it! The menu is simple — you get a decent-sized chicken schnitzel piece in either a salad box(my usual pick) or a wrap, then you choose your salads. I usually go for them all — so potato salad(for the carb fix), cucumber, tomato, rocket and slaw. Topped with a squirt of mayo from 3 choices — I’d recommend the chilli mayo. It’s delicious, feels fairly healthy, and is a good-sized feed to keep me going through the afternoon snack attacks. The best thing about going there though is the real sweethearts they have on the staff — these people seem genuinely happy and smiley, and glad that you’ve stopped by for a chat(oh and your lunch). It really makes a noticeable difference to the feel of the place and the main reason for my 5th star. I’d suggest you avoid the 12.30−1pm rush to reduce queuing time, but it does move fairly speedily. At £4.50 a box it’s also crazy good value for money in this area, esp when the till guy usually throws in some freshly-baked bread for free! Thanks guys for putting a smile on my face whenever I come in :)

The only problem I have had with this place so far is that I think I may have become addicted. Its such a good concept and for the quantity of food you get for the price is great especially in central London. But the food aside, I’m not entirely sure which recruitment agency these guys used to get their staff but what I will say is if I ever decide to start my own business I will make it my mission to find out. These guys, every single one of them, seem to absolutely love their job. Which is refreshing in this neck of the woods. Everyday(yes I go there every day) I come out of there with a smile and not because I am just about to eat, although I must admit it plays a part, but because the staff go out of their way to make sure the experience is as good as can be. Today I queued for about 10mins as the tiny shop has become so popular and when I joking inferred I was annoyed at their increasing popularity due to the increased queuing time I was told that I can now preorder online and simply collect without having to queue. I NEVER write reviews but in this instance I just had to. Well done guys keep up the good work.

Amidst all the Vietnamese eateries that have popped up all over the City, the Good Schnit is a much welcome newbie in the lunch arena. Hidden in a little alley way on Bow Lane, it’s still fairly undiscovered but serves a big game. You get a big portion of chicken schnitzel on top of your choice of salad(which comes in a box of greens, potato salad, and slaw) or bread(which comes with salad filling and fantastic sesame breading) and also sauce(chili mayo, basil mayo, mushroom truffle for an extra 50p which I highly recommend). All this for 4.50 makes this meal quite a steal. I am so happy about this place, it’s kind of scary.
