The Dundee is just a friendly local pub. Doesnt look much from the outside or in but the people are nice and if you want to watch the football or dont mind it being on you will feel comfortable as soon as you sit down. And yes you may end up chatting to some people you didnt know before.

You haven’t experienced a London pub until you’ve visited somewhere like the Dundee. Within crawling distance of Bethnal Green tube, it’s the perfect antidote to all the try-hard bars and asymmetrically-pubic-haired fashionistas of Brick Lane and Shoreditch. Be sure to visit when there’s football showing — it’s impossible not to people-watch the incredible mixture of die-hard local fans and foreign people who’ve adopted the teams as their own. Meet Chung for example — the freelance glass collector who wants to marry the barmaid, or the incredibly grey-hairy old man with the stick who shouts the same unintelligible few words whether something good or bad happens, not to mention Tesco’s finest shelf stacker who nudges the nearest person every time he makes a joke. By the way the drinks are very reasonable, including a selection of spirits for a pound… which maybe explains quite a lot.
