I’m writing this mostly because of the stuff I wish I knew before I had booked. All in all… You get what you pay for with this hotel. Pro: Location is great Breakfast is included– Staff are nice Wifi(only in lobby) Hot water for the showers! Cons: –Housekeeping starts extremely early. –The walls are very thin so you hear everything(including housekeeping knocking on every door on your hall at 8am even if you put your own do not disrupt sign up) –Bathrooms remained gross(vomit on the floor) during our stay even when housekeeping could of started on that before cleaning the bedrooms so early. –we had only one outlet in our room(so it was difficult to charge everything for our flight home) –construction was very loud at odd hours. –you have to return your key when you leave(I think that is very common in London but made my husband and I very uneasy) –beds were awful! I felt like I was sleeping on a pull out couch — you can hear people using the toilets down the hall in detail at night time Outside of the hotels control, we had horrible drunks for neighbors. They would slam doors at 3 am and carry on full on conversations outside of our door. With the walls being so thin it made it extremely difficult to sleep. The worst was when one guy had to vomit. We heard every splash and gag from down the hall(5 – 6 rooms down). Also, it was clear he missed the toilet one time and housekeeping did not clean up the mess. So we were extra frustrated when housekeeping was so eager to get into our room as such an early time(waking us up) but had not attended to the bathrooms. Like I said at the start– you get what you pay for. I wish I knew a lot of this before booking. I hope it helps. We paid similar costs to stay at the Princess hotel earlier in our trip and had a much better stay. I recommend there if you are undecided. It’s close by.

Hello 1973! The breakfast here is great, but aside that the rest of the hotel is a bit of a let down. I cant describe how 70s this place is, orange wool bedcovers, orange curtains, dark brown and orange carpets in the corridors etc, it was like being in Life On Mars or Rising Damp or something. We asked for a double, which was 2 single beds pushed together, which split apart and I fell down the middle just as the maid walked in, without knocking, which I found rude. We weren’t given a «do not disturb» sign or anything. Anyway, what she walked in on, made her leave quickly,(lol). Also the rooms aren’t en-suite, it’s one bathroom per 4 rooms, but that’s not too much of a hardship. The hotel itself as a whole really isn’t too bad. Its good value, and in a decent location, but if they just put some new carpet down, got some new curtains, bedding and furniture, maybe threw in a few double beds or king size beds, or even just a lick of paint here and there, it’d be superb. If I was really lost for choice, I’d stay there again without too much protest. It’s fine if you just need somewhere to sleep whilst visiting the capital.

I chose the county hotel because I wanted a great location at a small price. the rooms are very very old and smell funny, they look mostly clean, but I don’t want to look under the bed… furniture is completely worn out. the shared bathrooms are renovated and clean, staff is nice and helpful… for that kind of price, you can’t expect anything more… for sleeping it’s ok, if you look for a nice hotel to spend time at, choose another place…

If you are looking for a basic, clean hotel close to transport links look no further. This is a no-frills establishment with tired décor, but the breakfast is better than some hotels where I have paid more than twice as much. Call them direct as some hotel search websites charge more than the price for booking directly, plus they do not all include English breakfast.

Stayed here for a few nights in May 2008. Very affordable. Close to tube. Breakfast included and was very delicious and filling. Small single room is small, of course. Slept well, not a lot of noise. Bathrooms and toilets were clean. Good recommendation as alternative to a hostel if you want a private room.
