The Circle SPA

The facilities here are great. I went just for day access with a friend and wish that I worked/​live closer.

Ok, I can understand why people have not reviewed this place, they want to keep it to themselves.
I am a newcomer in London, but noticed very quickly that having a membership at a gym is not cheap. Memberships commitments are long, non-​peak times are short and a sauna is not standard. I come from Finland and I need a sauna.
The Circle Spa and Gym is a package of everything. There is a spa, a small gym with modern equipment (including classes), swimming pool (17m), steam room, sauna and a jacuzzi. The space in general is small, so I can understand if it gets crowded after work or even during lunch hours (I am lucky as I can go any time I want). The cost of a non-​commitment membership does not make you hyperventilate with 75£ a month for unlimited use of everything and 55£ for non-​peak hours (everything is included in the non-​peak except for the classes). If you are ready to commit for a longer time period you get a nice discount. I also got a lot of perks when joining: 30% discount for my first spa treatment, two guest vouchers and 10£ off my first Thai massage and 25% off my first sports massage. I had a peek at the Spa treatments and the price range was pretty standard for central London.
The gym is divided into separate cardio, weight training and stretching rooms. Equipment seems fairly new (I am not an expert in this though). I especially liked the modern treadmills with an easy user interface and different programs. And what best, there were plenty of them (6 to be exact). The space reserved for stretching was however very small and crowded even during off-​peak hours when there were only a few of us in the gym (perhaps stretching is very popular here). I have a non-​peak membership so the classes are excluded, but I noticed that the program is very variable with different spinning, toning, and heavy on yoga and Pilates. The best thing is that the maximum number of participants is small, so you don’t feel like you are in a barn full off cattle.
The pool is long enough to have a proper swim in. It is not for enthusiastic swimmers, so if you think anything less than 50m is not a pool, this is not your place. The poolside is nicely lit and decorated for a relaxed, spa-​like feel. Kids are only allowed between 3 to 5pm also during weekends, so one can float around in peace (when choosing the time right). The steam room is spacious and the sauna properly heated. Nothing to put a Finn off like a mild sauna. It also felt like a luxury to soak in the jacuzzi after an hour of exercise. One could call the reception and order cold drinks to the poolside for a decent price. If the whole complex would be outside and the weather +30 degrees C and sunny, it would be like a holiday retreat.
The dressing room is cute but a bit small. I am not sure how crowded it gets during peak hours. Only 3 showers and not very many benches to sit on. There was a nice set of Molton Brown soap, hand cream and shower gel, so one survives nicely if something is forgotten at home. The dressing room also had a nice smell.
So in case you are a gym junkie and train at the same time as everyone else, I might hesitate to recommend this place. You will find more space and equipment to choose from somewhere else (like the Virgin Gym). However if you are a bit gym-​lazy (just want to take a spin on the treadmill), consider yoga and pilates as great forms of exercise, and enjoy hanging around at the pool during the day, the Circle Spa and Gym is heaven.

I don’t use the gym as I am not a member, but I have been going there for treatments for years and I love it. It’s very relaxed and professional and the staff are all very nice and always make me feel at ease. Even if I am in for the more painful treatments.

This is a small privately owned gym. Not necessarily the most modern, but it has everything you need. There is no big membership fee and no lengthy contract. You can have the membership on a month to month basis if you want paying by standing order.
They have a pool, steam room and sauna and the changing rooms are clean and pleasant. There is a similar range of classes to those on offer at the bigger chains and a whole bunch of girly spa treatments, which I’ve never tried and don’t understand. What are sacral cranial massage and reconnection therapy?
It’s a nice place, they are nice people, and with no joining fee and no contract at £70 per month a lot cheaper than 37 Degrees, the other gym near here.
