The Charcoal Burner is just one of these friendly, well established pubs that you come across just where you don’t expect them. It is very popular with the local residents and the menu is reasonably varied. I visited yesterday with a fairly large group and the £2.00 meal menu is still going strong, and because there were so many of us we even got a waitress service for the drinks, even though we had not booked. For cost and friendliness you can’t knock this place. The gents toilet is a little tight for wheelchair access but I guess the layout of the place makes it difficult to improve.

The Charcoal Burner doesn’t look like an average pub from the outside, the building looks like a prefab. However when you walk in you are transported back to the 1970s, the décor is very reminiscent of that era. It has lots of artexing inside and little wooden cubby holes with seat in that are quite cosy. The staff are always friendly, it does quite often seem to be male dominated and it is often busy and lively in here and they regularly have entertainment at weekends which is great! There is plenty of seating outside both to the front and to the back of the pub. The view out the front is not so great though as it is of the main road. The food is average but at the moment they are doing a special offer of main courses for £2! Drink prices are slightly below average. A nice pub where you always feel welcome.
