5⁄5 for the food — I had the vegetarian breakfast and it really was delicious, plus incredibly cheap. Drinks less affordable, but then it is centrally located in Kings Cross. It’s a big place but takes bookings, which is handy if meeting with a group. I went at 2pm on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet — it has filled out more by the time I left at around 5.30 though. Very nice roof terrace, particularly good for sunny weather.

Decent bar– located in a cool area near Kings Cross. We walked by and saw the big screen for the rugby but this is anything but a Sports bar. I think the best description is trendy hipster?! It’s a good size with a lot of standing room and some table options. They do serve food which looked better than the normal pub food you might get elsewhere. Staff were friendly. The draft beers were pretty limited which was annoying but hey what can you do. Once the game was over… loud music came on and made it quit hard to have a conversation. The bar itself was busy and open late night. I would go back!

Super cet endroit!

I went here for a Wray & Nephew Rum Tings night. The place was decorated with Wray items, There was a bbq upstair on the roof terrace offering jerk chicken, veg skewers. They had a selection of rum cocktails aswell as beer, wine etc. Its a nice venue mainly beacuse of the roof terrace for me but the rest of the place is like your normal bar. Clean toilets, cloakroom

Summer = rooftop, but London also equals Rain. But that did not dampen Isabel and I’s spirit. Also, maybe I’m so used to city types because I work there, this place is not city at all, it’s buzzing with media and fashion types which isn’t a surprising as its so close to Shoreditch and Islington. I felt a bit out of place in my city girl heels and pencil skirt because everyone is super casual. Anyways, the bar itself on the rooftop is super tiny and seems to run out of supplies pretty fast and only one person is serving so if you can, you should get drinks downstairs first. Downstairs is massive, but I assume it doesn’t really get lively til late and we were there for after work rooftop drinks– it’s a bit sticky, and it’s cheap, and a bit student so go with an open mind. I did walk past their drawing room and that looks super cosy but again, it was pretty empty when we went. You have to try their coconut and lime cider, it’s like a lighter Malibu cocktail! The views: uh, not the best views in the city for sure, but you’re there for cheap drinks and a makeshift rooftop tiki bar. Solid 3 stars.

My new favourite place in London! The rooftop terrace in the sunshine is brilliant. The food is really tasty and the atmosphere is chill and summer. The inside is lovely and cool and their salad options are great. I’ll be back for sure!

This place I enjoy everyone. Ive been repeatedly over the past ten years. Good things. Its huge and midweek almost always a seat. It has a roof top bar… Before it was trendy The drinks menu is large It has an ingenious way of letting you know your food is ready… Its a nice fun vibe without that pretentious Shoreditch vibe The staff are always super friendly and jn a good mood To be improved The menu isn’t all that The place isn’t well signed for newbies Too little seating… But maybe that’s good for evenings

long story short: cold fries, cold burger, cold beans — save your time and don’t come here! the only positive thing to say is that the poor selection of beers was at least cold too.

I feel like I shouldn’t like this place, but I really do. Why shouldn’t I like it? The name, truly a terrible name, and the exterior of the building makes it look like it’s a hostel for Australians. But inside it’s quite nice, roomy for friends to meet and the very best part is the roof terrace. We popped up to watch a film in their rooftop cinema and stopped off to have a drink at the bar. It’s not a huge space but there’s plenty of seating and they serve food and drink to your table. Pretty handy if you’re kinda lazy, which I’m not, of course. Check out their weekly rooftop screenings of classic movies, it cost £3 and included the movie, a cocktail and some popcorn. They’ll also deliver food and drinks to you during the movie.

Unusual place to go. Eatery downstairs. Chill out games room on the first floor and roof terrace when the sun shines. Pint of cider up here went down very well

Drinks date, on a roof top. Lovely. The sun was out on the vertical seedling roof garden and only a smattering of pollution and fags clouding my view between me and the flock of ripe young hot stuff trotting about in canvas espadrilles, I was reassured I’d have a chill time. With benches, drinks served in tin cans, boys with beards, grubby toilets, ironic retro tunes, overpriced drinks… *the sound of the needle slipping off the record*. No wonder it’s called the Big Chill. You’re gonna need to take a bloody chill-pill after ordering, £4.50 for a bottle of Meantime! Certainly was mean. Now as evening draws in I need something to warm my cockles, it’s sunny spring in England and I’m underdressed for the plummet in temperature which the Big Chill has brought about my shoulders. Next time I’ll be giving them the chilly cold shoulder darlings and heading to warmer climes.

Great place to chat with friends on a Sunday afternoon/evening as it was pretty quiet. Food was great and really good value with a taste card. Drinks were a little on the pricey side. They also poured a large glass when asked for a small and although they gave me 10% off the price of a large, I can’t help but feel it’s their way of upselling. Maybe a genuine mistake but it’s happened before there. I’m sure they would give a small if insisted, but watch out for it.

I wish I could give this place 2.5 stars, because there’s nothing exactly wrong with it, but«Meh. I’ve experienced better» pretty accurately sums up my sentiments towards this place. First, I should mention that I came here strictly for food on a Sunday evening, so my review may not speak to what you’re looking for. I often pass the Big Chill on the way to school and wanted to give it a try. It’s a roomy place, well-decorated, and a nice place to chat with your friends. The bartender(you have to walk up to the bar to order your food) was very sweet. The food, however, was very… meh. My friend and I shared the crab burger and the broccoli. The presentation of the food was great, and I really liked their fries, but the burger itself was lackluster, and the broccoli was nothing to squack about. In short, I think this place would be great if it had better food. As things stand, I don’t think I would come back to eat here.

Some friends and I stumbled across The Big Chill House when wandering around Kings Cross looking for a bar before a gig and we were pleasantly surprised. The drinks were your average London prices, around £5 for a pint, but i a cool venue like this I didn’t mind so much! We headed up to the roof terrace which was packed, so we wandered back inside and found the games room which was empty! Yes, it was totally epic, and I suck a table football! The décor was awesome and for being a warm day was very well air conditioned! We spent a good hour playing games and drinking before we had to leave, I’d of willing spent all night there! I will certainly be returning!

A wee bit on the pricey side, but we can forgive that, especially in the summer when you can get on that roof!

This is going to sound like a weird review to most Unilocalers but as you can tell by my nick name, I’m not one to worry about being unusual. The Big Chill House gets all the stars from me because it is where I host the monthly event London Vegan Drinks. Oh yes. Come upstairs at 257 – 259 Pentonville Road on the third Thursday of any month and you will find over 100 vegans and their friends drinking, eating and meeting without meat. The venue is full of character and the staff members are courteous and accommodating. Lovely range of bottled beers and ciders. *UPDATE* London Vegan Drinks doesn’t take place here any longer. It is now at Whole Foods Market Kensington.

The times I have gone in were when the place was not really packed and less than half full — so take my words with a grain of salt. The place is pretty huge for a bar/pub area, presumably for drunken dancing. For the nights that I have gone, the music was a little off for me – and a bit too loud for my tastes. I had to yell over the music when we were ways away from the speakers. They have quite a nice seating area upstairs that is a little bit more intimate, with comfortable couches + pillows — probably a good place to take a date. As for the crowd, it’s a mixed bag — college students, young professionals, and older. They are, for the most part, laid back. The best part is, though, going upstairs and onto the roof if its open. You can overlook some of the city(the building is quite short actually), and have a great conversation whilst admiring London. I took a star off for the quirky choice in music and the expensive drinks.

If this place were empty, the vibe might have been really weird as it’s kind of a cavernous establishment. As it was, we stopped in early Friday evening and it was bustling. The beer was good, the atmoshpere was lively, and the barstaff was available despite the crowd. Will definitely stop in again soon. If you’re nearby for comedy at the Invisible Dot, it’s a good meeting place!

This is a pretty cool venue but the drinks are quite expensive(though I suppose that can be said everywhere in London). Solid french fries /chips though!

A-OK! This place got a lovely roof to chill at in a nice warm sunny day, or night. Also quite spacious in general. Been here for breakfast and happy hour. The breakfast food I’ve/ and my friends, have tried here are greek yogurt with granolas and berries– not exactly worth it, full english breakfast– which is quite big, some pastries– croissants and muffins, and continental style– which isn’t worth it either. Nothing special really, although they do provide wifi here. Happy hour is good for shots and other kinds of cocktails. PS! Their sweet potato fries are yummy for the tummy!

Great venue with lots of attitude. I love all the graffiti and the odd mirror details in the bathroom. Staff aren’t the friendliest and is on the expensive side. However if you want a ‘trendy’ place to hang out in Kings Cross this would be it! At night it can sometimes get really busy and noisy however it’s open really late which is a plus!
