3 or 4, 3 or 4… when in doubt, I usually splurge.(This goes for Unilocal stars as well as number of coffees I indulge in per diem.) 4 Stars it is for you, my darling Testa Rossa. You’ve managed to shine through the industrial grittiness of Edgeware Road and serve as a safe haven just beyond the madness around the corner on Oxford Street. Nothing too fancy, just your standard multi-national coffee conglomerate serving up Italian paninis with a smile and a punch card(Currently, you can become a «member» and receive 10% off all orders.) To be fair, you make a killer tuna salad, and although I desperately wish you weren’t out of skim milk during all three of my visits, I loved on your free wi-fi and tasty coffee roast none the less.

Marble-Arch and the junction of Edgware Rd can hardly be considered to be an area to have a quiet drink, but this very posh Italian Caffe deserves a mention because it satisfies all the criteria-nice coffee, clean, comfortable seating and very nice friendly service without any snotty-ness. I visit there quite frequently because I pass throught the area on a regular basis and once I have had a good rummage around for shoes and some electronics in Edgware Rd I always go in for a coffee and get served really quickly. I have spent so much time there that they know me really well. Other than the perfect coffee and extensive selection of specialised cakes and pastries, its a nice place to sit and have a quiet moment to gather your thoughts before the big drive home. They do have a loyalty card scheme which is wonderful value –if you buy 4 coffees in seperate purchases they give you a free croissant, if you buy another 4 you get a free coffee and if you buy another 4 you can pick a free salad or sandwich. I think that a lot of these like Café Nero, Macdonalds, BBS, Quizinos have loyalty cards and they are worth picking and remember to have them stamped so you don’t miss out.
