I decided to give Taro another try in light of Amex Shop Small. But having been fooled by their«NOAMEX» signs on the credit card machines last year, despite the fact that they appear on the Shop Small map, I decided to ask beforehand if they accept Amex. The cashier asked me if I had another card on me, and when I said no, they proceeded to let me pay with Amex and it worked. It’s not even like they have another machine for Amex cards; they have just decided to label their machines with these obnoxious signs. I find this extremely annoying and I hope you don’t fall for it either. I gave the chicken karaage another chance, and while I do have the same microwave grievance, and the same thoughts on the lemon slice, it is rather tender and tasty, and at least it doesn’t have the lingering hair /feather problem that the chicken that the karaage at Tsuru tends to have. They also have this new dish called duck don that is exactly what I have been waiting ages for Chi Noodle to do! It’s proper roast duck with a nice hoisin sauce served over a bed of rice, and there is some cabbage with it too. It was glorious. I’ll definitely come back for this.

We were close to home on a Wednesday night and our only other option in the area @ 7pm was Wagamama… which we have done to death. We decided to give Taro a try and were pleasantly surprised. it doesn’t look like much, in fact its more canteen style dining with 3 small tables for the lunchtime rush. We both got the chicken curry. I’m not going to say it blew me away, but compared with Wagamama, its seems to have that home style comfort food taste that i’m a fan of. Further the bill was around £15 total for both of us… bargain!
