Superb sushi, fast and friendly delivery, wonderfully presented. Highly recommended,

There are some restaurants you have to go because they are like 2 min walk from your house, and having a local sushi restaurant is a dream come true for me.
The place is quite small (literally, 3 tables!) but cozy and nice. We went on a Tuesday, so the place was quiet and empty.
The waiter, a lovely spanish guy, was really nice and helpful and make sure we like what we order. And the sushi is good! We try the squid tempura, gyozas and maki-​sashimi and all was delicious.
And for a good price!
I m sure I ll be back soon when I don t feel like cooking for dinner… or if this cold weather doesn t go way, I might stay home and order delivery…

We had high expectations for sushi 54 but unfortunately left disappointed. The attitude of the staff was probably the biggest issue. When we arrived, it seemed as though they wanted to get rid of us, more than anything else. They said they were full; we said we wouldn’t mind waiting. They said the food would take a long time to come from the kitchen; we said that was fine… Not the friendly welcome we might have hoped for, after coming all the way just to try them out! In fact, a table became free very quickly and the food arrived pretty soon after ordering.
The food was fine and all tasted good, but was difficult to enjoy because of what had happened when we arrived. Like the décor of the place, the food seemed to be trying very hard to look stylish.
There are other, better sushi places nearer to me, so I doubt I’ll go back, but would definitely consider ordering from them if I lived closer.

A good sushi restaurant in London: a miracle in itself. The fact that they also deliver: legendary.
Having moved back to the UK from the States, I have high expectations for sushi. I have often avoided trying new sushi restaurants out here, concerned about poor fish quality and pathetic menus. But one day I was desperate, and finding Sushi 54, ordered a delivery of sashimi, maki and miso soup. The results were delightful — truly excellent food, and the delivery service was punctual as well. I especially liked their spicy tuna maki, a firm favourite of mine.
I now use Sushi 54 as a regular take away option, as I can always count on great sushi at reasonable prices. We also visited the restaurant recently and were very pleased with what we found. I personally loved the experience of sitting at a low Japanese-​style table in the ambiently lit environment.
Highly recommended for anyone that enjoys good Japanese food.

Very good and fresh sushi, but often quoting delivery times of 1 to 2 hours which does not really work

Last time I went there were two lovely women serving us! Hooray! No awkwardness. Although the restaurant is so small they can hear everything you say, like how much you are going to tip them. So actually, the awkward factor is still there (in a fun way).
Also, anything soft shell crab here seems delicious — futo maki, tempura.

Long story short, I think this restaurant has one of the freshest sushi London has to offer. Simple, unpretentious menu and consistent every time. I usually go with the ½ tuna ½ salmon est. I actually haven’t dined at the restaurant but always take advantage of the delivery.

I have passed Sushi 54 a few times walking between Barnes and Putney and, as a fan of good sushi who gets frustrated by London’s apparent shortage of establishments devoted to this fine food as opposed to shoving some fish and mayo in a bundle of rice as a starter to a noodle dish, I was intrigued by the name.
The menu is large, varied and mouth-​watering, so we went last night on the way to the cinema. Being a Friday, we booked a table. So when we arrived and were the only people there, we understood why there was only one person working the floor.
A little disappointed and bemused by the complete lack of atmosphere, we were quizzical as to why the drinks order of tap water and green tea took quite so long to be served. Upon ordering one of the many sets on offer, and asking for a small tweek in the menu which is advertised on smaller sets, we were told that none of the sets could be changed at all. Hmm. We went ahead and ordered our first choice anyway and sat there hoping for the experience to improve…
We soon realised, when three or more parties came in, that the one guy working there was spending a large portion of time taking phone orders. The gaff wasn’t particularly full, but if you only have one person on on a Friday night, it doesn’t bode too well…
And then the sushi arrived… All 30 pieces on a glass plate/​bowl. it looked amazing and tasted great. It was fresh, the maki rolls were a good size, more akin to those served in California rather than the Hare and Tortoise, and we left very satisfied having spent £20 a head (including drinks and tips) on authentic, largely mayo-​free delicious sushi. Just what I had hoped for walking in.
If anyone finds a time when this place has enough staff and a bit of atmosphere, let me know, because that’s all that was lacking.
