When they tell you they’ll be closing in half an hour, what they really mean is chug your half-foam glass of IPA and begone, because they’ll be turning the lights up to chemistry lab brilliance within five minutes. When you moan about it, they might explain to you, as they did to me «it discourages people coming in off the street.» May my gentle warning do the same.

Customer service severely lacking here. Bartenders void of any personality and seemed annoyed. Just moved to the area and was looking for a local. This won’t be it.

OK little pub, if you’re willing to pay high prices for frozen and pre cooked food then this is the place for you.

I like it. Beer is good. Pretty relaxed place compared to others nearby. And a really cute girl behind the bar

Being my last bar on a string of many, the Sun Tavern was a nice place to end the night. Tucked away in Covent Garden, the Sun Tavern has some of the most pleasant bartenders I have encountered in London. They were so accommodating when I told them that I didn’t have cash on me and she even gave me an extra shot in my drink! The atmosphere is one of conviviality and good old-fashioned London pub-ness. Make sure and check out the upstairs bar. The seating in the main pub is kind of limited, but usually less crowded upstairs. A great place to go to escape the London cold.

A bit grotty, a bit crowded. But somehow not awful. Just not very good.

I go here quite often and it’s not great. Last time I went it was to a function in the top half of the pub, they did food and no one could eat it! It was awful– people were sitting it back out because it tasted so nasty! So I would recommend not eating here. The ladies loos are another bug bear — as they see to never have soap! Beer etc is fine from here and they do show football matches, but otherwise I would walk a few meters on and find a better pub!

This is an unusual little pub, and from the outside and interior it looks typically english… However The Sun Tavern serves a great range of Jamaican food in the disguise of a traditional english pub. I headed in here on for a quick lunch when meeting a friend. I had a delicious Grilled tuna steak on a bed on Rocket and Parmason Salad all for £6.75. The food was good, and pretty cheap. The first floor bar is also available for hire. Upstairs is a larger area for watching sports, with two screens.

You wouldn’t mind if this was your local, and that’s probably about as high a compliment as it’s possible to give for a pub slap bang in the middle of the otherwise tourist dead-zone of Covent Garden. A good selection of ales and lagers served by attentive staff in a venue which has a bit of a buzz without needing to try too hard. It shows football on its large screens, without ever feeling like a sports pub or getting the edginess that big matches can cause, and its fruit machines provide the other diversion from the drinks. Comes into its own for private events, which it hosts in its upstairs bar.

Not a bad little pub. the upstairs is better than downstairs. It’s nothing fantastic, but then again you could say that about quite a few pubs in and around Covent Garden. It is one of the quieter ones though, which is a bonus on a busy touristy evening, but I wouldn’t say it was one of London’s finest to be honest. Fills a gap, as my mum would say.
