Sublime is a great little cure of all these things.
A solid gift shop with an impressive selection of high end clothing (basement) that served as quite a pleasant surprise. I didn’t pick anything up this trip but I’ll be checking back often as I like the style and selection, particularly the shirts and shoes.
Where they seem to focus and excel is gifting. They have a lovely selection of cards, bits and bobs, mugs, jewelry, frames, etc. I gifted some wonderful things to myself actually! Some gorgeous coffee/​tea mugs from Portugal that I adore an dan Umbra copper geometric frame that I fancied quite a bit.

They have some great Matt & Nat leather goods, scarves, brollies, etc. It’s a nice little assortment of goodies that makes for a fun poke around. They had a few sale racks of clothes that were worth checking into as well.

Little shop packed to the brim with all the best kinds of gift-​y stuff for all sorts of people. Clever little books and notebooks, candles and soap (the nice, not kitschy stuff), considered cards, interesting jewelry, wallets, shoes, and little objects you don’t even know you want until you see them. Despite the fact that the place is only about 80 square feet, you could easy spend almost an hour upstairs alone. BUT don’t forget about the cozy basement with all sorts of well-​chosen clothes; mix of somewhat affordable though mostly just covetable stuff.

Having had a bad experience today I felt compelled to write this review, especially as I can now see that I am not alone!
My colleagues purchased me a £65 necklacee for my 30^th birthday back in January. They were unsure about buying at the time as the chain was a bit shorter than they knew I would go for but were reassured that if there were any problems I could return it. They deliberatly paid in cash for the ease of a refund.
Since recieving the necklace it was too short a chain length and so I instantly returned it. I was told that the length could be adjusted and left my details to be called within the next few days. Having heard nothing for three weeks I returned still with the necklace and receipt to try again! I was told that they were waiting to hear back from the designer. I noticed a ring that the woman was wearing and was told it was by the same designer as the necklace I was trying to change. I said if it was easier I would like to exchange for a similar ring. She then told me she would get a selection of the designers rings in for me to exchange my necklace and so my details were taken again! Another three and half weeks later having not heard anything I returned again to be told the designer was in India! The lack of customer service is appalling and working in a client facing industry myself I am shocked that I could be fobbed off this many times, with too many broken promises. I said that seeing as this situation had been going on for long enough that perhaps I could just get a refund as there was nothing that I wanted in the shop in exchange. It was to be a keepsake present after all. I was told this shouldn’t be a problem but she would have to double check with her boss and could I come back tomorrow. Thankfully I only work a few seconds from the shop! So I returned AGAIN this afternoon to be told that actually a refund would not be possible. If it was broken then I would be entitled to a full refund, something I mentioned and was met with perhaps thats what needs to happen? However I could not do that to a piece of jewellry and so I’m now left with a credit note for a store that quite frankly I don’t want to go back in to! I was delightfully told that perhaps I could buy other peoples presents with it!!!

This is a great little independent shop perfect for buying small birthday gifts or cards at. It’s not cheap but has a nice range of products that seem personally selected. The staff are nice.

This shop is the Clerkenwell outpost of Sublime Boutique in Hackney (reviewed here on Qype). It’s a little jewel of a place with loads of cute gift ideas from paper, cards, candles, bath products to cheeky baby clothes. But the best part about this shop is its singular selection of clothes, accessories and jewelry from indi designers and that it’s not yet another chain store. The shop is small, so the selection is not huge, but I always find something appealing and there is a range of prices to fit all budgets. The staff is always friendly and warm. Great sales too.
