Food was decent but first impressions of the newly overhauled Daniel Defoe pub were a bit meh. I am definitely going to go back to review once they’ve had a bit more time to polish their service. The staff were simultaneously rushed off their feet and confused about very simple requests, e.g. we wanted to take some cake home with us and they said«we don’t really do that» and had no containers. Seemed like they missed a trick as lots of teahouses/cafés expect you to do that! The food itself didn’t disappoint, and I liked the décor of the bar — I’ll definitely return one evening too so see how the vibe changes from brunch to evening drinks.
