Every Saturday for the past 3 years I have passed this stall always telling myself I will eat here one day. I finally did this past Saturday and I can’t believe I waited so long. 2 of us split the large«bit of everything». He filled the container halfway with light fluffy yellow rice and then added the beef stew, spinach stew, black eyed pea stew, and chicken stew. The beef stew was full of flavour and reminded me of my grandma’s home cooking. The beef was tender and there was a lot of it! The spinach stew was kind of creamy and the spices really brought out the spinach. The black eyed peas had an almost peanut satay sauce and the sweetness complimented the chili sauce we added. The chicken was nice and tender. I don’t think the sauce was as tasty as the other stews, but still super delish! The server was very friendly… I will definitely come back! I only wish they were near my office during Friday lunchtime so I could eat there every week!

Hooray for vegetarian options! Unfortunately, my food was a lot spicier than I expected and I didn’t have water on me… I think this little stand deserves a return visit, though– I haven’t tried the plantains yet!

Like Mei, I love this place. The Portobello Road’s stall is one of my market favourites and they treat you like family which make the food taste even better. The best stew they make is the namesake Spinach and Agushi, with Jollof rice and a side of Plantain. I always go for a large because though the portions are decent I always want to eat more. All the food is Ghanaian, and you will often find one of the owners working the stall. You might also recognise him from Masterchef, which makes it an even more interesting proposition. They even cater for events, which alone makes me want to become an even organiser. I couldn’t recommend more highly…
