Having been very impressed by the Lewisham High Street restaurant, I had no hesitation popping in for a large order for the family one Friday evening. Staff were plentiful, the interior had plenty of seats, though looked a bit dated, but clean. Placed my order with a young man and waited for the large cod to be cooked(which I don’t mind). After 10 mins all my order was ready, and he just handed it to me without me paying… but I couldn’t do it, so I asked if he wanted me to pay for it — which he did, gratefully :-) Chips were good, fish was good with crispy batter, and even the battered sausage was good. All in all money well spent. Well worth the extra walk from that dreadful place near Grove Park station we tried a few weeks before.

Put simply, there are not many nice places to eat out in Downham. However, Something Fishy is worthy of my recommendation. They sell different types of food, all at a really reasonable price. I bought a jacket potato, side salad and baked beans for £2.50. You would be lucky to pay that amount just for a sandwich at other eating establishments! Their fish and chips are good too and they sell pie and mash. There are tables and seating for you to eat on site if you prefer and it is always very clean and simple whenever I have come to eat there. They’ve been in Downham for years and it is a relief to find a decent place to eat in this area!
