Hungry in Lewisham? — this place will fill you up with a smile!
An old-​style café/​takeaway with all the charm of how it used to be when I was a kid. Generous sized tasty food with excellent service and at a reasonable price.
We go here anytime we are shopping on Saturday and want a propper lunch (it beats munching a pastry from Gregg’s on the street). Good quality chips, good batter on the fish, and plenty of room to sit down (if you’re lucky, as its always packed).

It is cafeteria style here — order at the front and then go and find a seat in the plastic/​formica? seating area. You can watch the market from in there. There is also an entrance on the other side of the street too — overlooking smaller st. They also have seats outside.
Lots of locals are regulars here.
Decent fish and chips here. Batter is crisp and serving sizes are big. I have only ever had the small/​regular fish and chips and it filled the whole plate and I was totally full. The large size must be huuuge!
They also have pies and jellied eels, a breakfast menu and smaller sizes for children.
Variety of soft drinks. They have ginger beer I think and Dr Pepper.
Service is good and staff are friendly.
Great value at just over a fiver for regular fish and chips and mushy peas.
Note: This establishment has been awarded five stars out of five for hygiene by the environmental health department. A minority of restaurants achieve this rating.

Nice and simple fish and chip restaurant. Good service — food brilliant — portions as requested. Loos upstairs. Very popular with a regular customer base.

Located in the heart of the market area of Lewisham High Street this local fish and chip restaurant is a great place to grab a good hearty meal away from the shopping bustle.
Staff are friendly and chatty and there is a good atmosphere as you wait for a decent plate of fish, chips and mushy peas if they take your fancy.
The fish isn’t too heavy and the meal is always tasty. A good unpretentious place to get a good meal on a busy day.
