Went here with a Friend on a Thursday night. Was pretty disappointed with this place, considering it looked like it had won awards. We had started with a sharing platter ‘Dim sum’, priced at £12. When the starter had arrived we were presented with vast amount of parsley and garnish, with some fried won tons, fish cakes, spring rolls and chicken satay. The fried dim sum was very similar from something that you can purchase at a supermarket for fraction of the price and it would have tasted better. The main course. We both had pad thai. The pad thai was very average and totally tasteless tofu and the addition of the lemon was not welcomed. On plus note service was good, however I was Infuriated when they added £6 suggested tip.

Had lunch here a few weeks ago. I was actually led in here by the plethora of stickers on the window, advertising it’s quality. It is a relatively small place, with lots of tables, so I can imagine it does get crowded and noisy for dinner, though I have no direct experience of this. The serving staff were fast and professional. They have a separate and largish vegetarian/vegan menu. My Pad Kra-Pow Pak(stir fried vegetables, with basil leaves and fresh chillies) was tasty, though perhaps I would have liked a slightly larger serving size(and I am generally sick of having to pay extra for steamed rice, which is apparently standard way of inflating prices in London). Overall I had a positive experience, but given the many alternatives in the area, I am not sure how soon I will be back.

Very disappointing. Despite the many positive reviews I was not impressed by the food or service here. Starters deep fried with dull sauces. Veggie Green curry was served cold and with poor quantity and quality of veg in it. Chicken was so fatty it was more like Duck. Over-priced drinks. No ambiance in the restaurant. I wouldn’t go back

Terrible food. I was extremely disappointed with the food in this restaurant. Came with friends so we had a lot to try. My ribs as an appetizer were not very tasty. Beef in both beef dishes was cheap and hard to chew. I got a chicken with cashew nuts and it was probably the best one — it’s hard to mess up chicken but they did manage to still. It was sweet and I mean it tasted like they literally put sugar on it! Fried rice was good. Good atmosphere to sit down and drink one. We were, however, asked to leave 1 min after we paid the bill because people were waiting for a table and mind you it wasn’t like there was a line outside. I found this very rude. I’ve been to many Thai places to say that this food is just what it should be. Place looked nice and reviews were decent so i really expected to like this place, but clearly not recommended overall.

Food: 3 stars | Location and ambience: 1 star I’ve been to 2 other locations in the Thai Square chain, so when I was in Soho last Friday my cousin and I decided to stop in here for dinner. Big mistake! After the 9 – 5’er have had their Friday night drink at the pub, the go out for late dinners… We arrived around 7:30 and were promptly seated. Immediately I noticed that this restaurant is tiny and the tables are very cramped. Our tabletop was sticky. As the restaurant got busier over the next 30 minutes the noise level became unbearable! The washroom is located down a flight of steep and narrow stairs, with a sticky handrail and the washroom itself is old and dirty looking. After washing up I didn’t want to touch the handrail on my way upstairs and nearly took a tumble backwards! Our food arrived quickly and was decent — not the best Thai food I’ve ever had, but not too bad either. The wait staff were very attentive and polite(I don’t think my water glass was ever empty for more than 2 minutes!) I wasn’t at all impressed by this restaurant and won’t be back anytime soon.

We went here based on the two reviews. We are visiting this international city and since we don’t know any of the restaurants, I look to Unilocal. When we entered we were greeted warmly and were told to sit where we like. Since it is rather small inside, we opted to sit away from some of the other customers, no offense, just more privacy. Our waiter was pleasant and took our drink order promptly. We looked for our usual dishes, and only opted for the panang curry. We ordered pad kee mao which came with beef, and grilled chicken with sweet pepper chili sauce. Me: «Can we get two glasses of water?» Waiter: «Two waters, yes» Those never arrived. I did notice other patrons getting water though. So the experience started to go downhill from there. The food came out and we realized we made a mistake when we ordered grilled chicken, because it came out bone in. But we thought it reminded us of Saffron, so we ate the tender grilled pieces. Not enough sauce though. The panang was the spiciest. We really liked the beef and noodles, good flavor. However, I’m really big on service since I was once a food server. No one came to ask us how everything was. Rice again was not given without asking… er…ordering. And the rest of the staff would just look over at our table to see if we were done. When one finally removed our empty plates, the friendly waiter asked if we’d like dessert. Nothing really stood out, so we declined. After we received the bill, we noticed they added the tip. WOW! REALLY??? Did they think we were those kind of Americans that didn’t tip? Or were they expecting more, because when the rude waiter tallied the bill, he put in the amount with the tip, and gave the slip to sign with the gratuity amount blank. Since they already added it, «nothing extra for you.» And nothing really nice for me to say either. I know it wasn’t our appearance since there were others casually dressed. But I can’t believe how my Asian peeps were acting. It was nothing like the friendly Thais at Pinto or Lotus in San Diego. So hopefully this is the only sour spot on our adventure. Me: We should of went to Mr. Kong. He: I know, at least there we’d get water(wicked laughter) So now I know why no one has written any reviews. There’s probably better Thai restaurants elsewhere.

Small and unpretentious place down a smaller road, with little passing traffic and I thought it would be good authentic Thai food and I was not disappointed. The food was tasty and came quickly, though the wine list did seem limited. The staff were friendly and helpful and overall had a great meal, which I thought was good value for the Soho. It was busy, but I guess that was expected on a Saturday evening; without booking we had a 15 minute wait for a table. Randomly we were sat next to the actor Dominic Copper.

Good little place in Soho. It’s not mind-blowing, but definitely above average. The red curry with prawns is very good, and the grilled lamb too. The pad thai is good, but I’ve had better. Good service too. Worth checking out.

I went here with @mikejdoyley for lunch and really had a good time. As he said, it wasn’t goo enough to make me change my lunch habits but it was great going to this place for lunch. I’ll miss having this place, Papaya and all the other places to choose from for lunch. Soho is really a buzzing place and it was wonderful to have something like this close by. I think it is more of an occasional lunch rather than a regular place. It seems always busy but with attentive staff. At least we didn’t have to chase them for our food!

Soho Thai is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in London. The food is great. And it’s hidden location means that it’s often less crowded than its competitors. The space is small, however, so it can feel a bit cramped or you can get a seat next to the stairs or kitchen.

I went with a friend(a pretty well known Qyper) because I fancied a change to the usual lunch fare. Soho Thai is located near that other real popular Thai take out Papaya… I think its called Papaya. anyway its safe to say that in that area there is plenty of competition to go around but luckily enough mouths to feed! I ordered another roast duck red curry(round £7.5) with a steamed rice at about £1.5. Personally I find that a little on the expensive side but hey ho. The interior was quite nice and the staff were friendly, and getting service so quickly at lunch time definitely is a huge plus. The food was quite tasty with a good amount of spicy heat. All in all quite good but not quite enough to make me change my lunch habits.

Buh? How has this place not yet been reviewed? Soho Thai comes recommended. Not from me, but from fancy people with stickers. Maybe I should get some stickers too for people to adorn the entrance so that others do indeed know that I ingest food at said establishment. Anyway, Soho Thai was covered in them, dating back years. I figured it was worth a try, so we gave it a try. And you know what? It was pretty good! My sticky jasmine rice was just how I like it and my chicken based thing was also very tasty even if I have no recollection of what it was. Service was prompt and efficient also. When the waitress accidentally spilled water on my shirt she apologised profusely and seemed very upset by the entire affair. Nice girl. The manager also came over to apologise. They must have really liked my shirt. So yes, good location in Soho, nice, intimate décor, good service and tasty food. Go there. I have seen it pretty busy on weekends though, so maybe you should book. Maybe. I never have, but you might want to.
