Unilocaled this pub on my first trip to england. barman was friendly enough for the UK and gave tap recommendations to me and my friends. upper area was really quiet and looked nice but got a great spot by the front window. really good baked brie and stuffed mushrooms as pub grub. solid pub spot!

I was looking for a pub in the area for a quick pint before I went home and I stumbled upon this one. While on a Sunday afternoon it was almost empty I have to say it’s a pub perfect for watching sports. From the country flags everywhere to the big screens and the rugby mottos the whole atmosphere just puts you in the mood for a good game. The rest of the pub is your classic small pub feeling we all love, with good pints of beer and a friendly bartender. Though I didn’t try any of the food it looked pretty yummy when I saw it on other tables. If you’re in the area I’d say you should try it for some quick pints after work.

Stopped in for a quick drink and some bites after wandering around Buck House for the afternoon. Scoot past the armed policemen outside the Saudi embassy and you’ll find this quaint pub tucked into the corner of a side street. The light bites were tasty and did the job although the cod croutons were borderline too much fry and not enough fish. The baked Camembert was tasty as were the mushrooms. Beer was a little pricey exceeding £5 a pint. Such is Mayfair these days. Definitely a great spot for watching the world go by though.

Lovely bar, and when I didn’t like the beer I ordered they changed it for free, with a smile!

Tucked away from major(foot and vehicle) traffic, this pub provided me a quiet and cozy place for a late lunch. I walked in and there were only a handful of people inside, mostly older professionals probably on lunch breaks as well. I ordered a steak and ale pie and a small espresso. You have to order at the bar and they take the order to your table. The steak pie was quite good. There was a lot of meat and gravy inside. The meat was very tender and well cooked. The crust was nice and buttery flaky. Service was nice. If I’m ever back in London and happen to be in this area, I would definitely pop in again for a meal.

A quiet pub in the middle of Shepherds Market, a stone’s throw from Hyde Park. Just behind Piccadilly and Park Lane, this area is tucked away behind the expensive houses, restaurants and hotels. One of many pubs and restaurants in the area, it’s quiet and friendly. There’s plenty of space, with an upstairs space. Drinks and food available with plenty on tap. A nice little place not too far from Hyde Park corner with decent prices. Think it could become a new local, especially if you’re only a small group.

I have a soft spot for Shepherds Tavern so maybe my review is biased. But we used to frequent this pub on my trips to the London office and I can only say that this venue is the epitome of pub charm. Great drinks, great canapes. Ok fine, not cheap(for a pub) but a «bargain» for Mayfair.

Excellent pub in the Mayfair section of London. We were staying just around the corner at the Chesterfield Mayfair and this was a close walk from our hotel. We were so glad we tried it! Excellent beers on tap along with great fish and chips. I love the London way of how people stand outside a pub to drink! You wouldn’t see that in the United States but who cares? It was fun! The soccer games were always on the televisions and lots of fans were inside watching. The staff was excellent and very attentive. We will return on our next trip to London!

Part of the same chain as the pub down the street called The Kings Arms. Both have the exact same menu, but this location has more charm, better service, and the food is better prepared. I would definitely go back for both beers and food. I must say that I liked it better before I knew it was a chain(found out when i tried The Kings Arms down the street).

Stopped in here with a colleague to have a pint and a bit of pub food. It’s a friendly atmosphere with good service. I had the Mince Meat Pie and it was pretty tasty. It’s not something I would want to eat too often. Very rich and salty. It is definitely decent hearty pub fare.

This is a nice little pub in the Shepherd Market area in Mayfair. It was the ultimate in average though. The food was OK, the service was… ehhhhhhhh. and the atmosphere was nice but unremarkable when compared to all of the other pubs on that street. All they want to do is serve you your beer and food and don’t have any particular interest in small talk or getting to know you. In fact, all of the pubs in this area seem to be like that but then again that is not unusual for most big cities. I had a traditional British pie and replaced the gravy with some sort of poisonous– tasting alternative that they were touting on the menu. Being a British fare novice I should have stuck to the rookie menu but I wanted to go as traditional as I could while I was there. Oh well, I’ll work my way up to that stuff and try it again someday. I can’t say anything bad about this place at all but nothing seemed to leap out at me either. I would recommend it and I don’t think you’d be disappointed if you went. I’d go back here again for both food and drink. This was my first experience with a pie and I enjoyed it.

Had a decent pint of Wherry at this pub. It’s an alright place. Has more seating than the other pubs in the area because of all the tables upstairs so it is very much the place to come to rest your legs. Very strange advert in the toilets that said that if you were in Cameroon you would be arrested, because homosexuality is illegal. I thought the door marked ‘Men’ meant I was one, rather than my persuasion. Surely holding your own is legal, it’s other peoples that Cameroon is so backward about? We were all a bit confused by this accusation!

A nicely appointed pub in fantastic location in Shepherd’s Market. Food was nice — normal pub fair — but the service was very very slow and when it did come one dish took much longer than the other two. Nevertheless the dining room is classically styled and it’s certainly a comfortable atmosphere.

While I was staying at the Intercontinental I was in search for the best fish n chips in the Mayfair area and I was told by the concierge to go Shepherds Tavern in Sheperd Market and he understated the quality of the fish n’ chips. This was my first true British Fish N’Chips and Ale experience and it was way beyond my expectations and everything I’ve heard prior was understated on how much better the British Fish N Chips were then in any other country. I really enjoyed the brown sauce and fresh peas that accompanied a huge perfectly battered and cooked piece of white fish. It may have been haddock or icelantic cod but what ever white fish it was it didn’t matter has the beer batter was just right. Shepherd’s is in a very unique corner pocket location that is perfect for meeting up with some friends, colleagues or just simply watching some sports and drinking some beer. A true pub layout.
