Shambles bar and restaurant

Really amazing home-​made Italian food. There wasn’t one dish we didn’t love. And to top this off, this is right down the street from us. WHAT.
I do wish as a first-​timer that they would have told us you can make the antipasti course a starter. If you order antipasti expect it to be LARGE. Typically they aren’t that large.
The pasta is a must. Just try it. Amazing. I’m surprised at the size of their menu but with with any menu that size, you run into the occasional ‘we are out of this’ more often than on a smaller menu.
I wish they would update their foursquare info as one check in said they have prosecco on draught which sounded interesting but when we got in they looked at me confused when I asked for it.

Shambles has been a well kept Teddington secret for over 30 years. This unassuming Italian wine bar serves, in my opinion, the best food in Teddington. When you get into the habit of visiting chain Italians such as Carluccios (Let’s not even talk about Pizza Express) you really get used to low quality high priced food. Shambles always reminds me of what great, homemade food tastes like and why this restaurant is recession-​proof.

Shambles is definatley the better restaurant in Teddington. One great thing going for them is it is a family run business, Father and daughter front of house and son cooking!
If you go there once, they will remember you forever and look after you always.
Great food, great ambiance and lovely little bar for snacks and a quick drink!

We have eaten many times at Shambles, it is our local ‘secret’ and we love the great food, atmosphere and service. Sometimes we eat in the bar, on a more casual basis and on other, special occasions, eat in the restaurant. Both are excellent. We know we should advertise this great place but are scared that too much open publicity will spoil our local, friendly and slightly 70’s wine bar! P. S.We love the piano player too!
