Another Hoxton/Shoreditch gallery, in prime position on Kingsland Rd. Conveniently located opposite Flowers East gallery, a large and popular contemporary art gallery, meaning Seventeen benefits from Flowers visiotrs drifting over the road. I like the exterior of this small gallery, it’s all open glass for you to look into. Once inside, the space is small with a room at the front, and a larger area at the back of the gallery. As far as exhibitions go, they show a lot of video art. I saw Doug Fishbone perform ‘You Call This Living’ earlier this year and it was brilliant. The best thing I’ve seen there(and one of my ‘art’ highlights in recent years) was their screening of Les Blanks video ‘Werner Herzog eats his shoe’. Werner Herzog is an astonishing filmmaker, his recent film ‘Grizzly Man’ is amazing — you should check it out. I digress; Seventeen is a non flashy, decent little gallery. Check website for exhibition listings.
