Really cute little Korean fusion hole in the wall Walked by this, the graffitied walls instantly caught my attention. Looked at the menu and saw in their photos that they had made some more staples Korean gimbab(Korean roll) and mixed them with other flavours such as the beef bulgogi which was delicious. They also had some other things that we tried that also stood out nicely. Couldn’t remember what it was called but it had cheese, spicy rice cakes and fish cakes in a nice hot broth. Would recommended ordering that with the noodles. Overall review Food presentation 3⁄5(very standard, no garnishes but at this price wouldn’t expect it) Service: 5⁄5 fairly prompt Quality and taste: 5⁄5 Value for money: 5⁄5 Décor: 5⁄5(loved the café look) Would return: Yes absolutely

A quaint little Korean café seating approximately 16 people only. Seoul Bakery used to be in St Giles Street, behind the Centre Point before redevelopment meant their rent had to end and so they moved their business here. The place still has the same charm to it allowing customers to draw on their walls as part of their design. K-pop at the background sets the ambiance although quite tingy and nice friendly staff cooking behind the kitchen at the back. The place closes at 20:00 daily so come early and prepare to queue. Prices are so cheap that it mostly attracts students. It is rare to find some home cooked food at the prices and portion sizes they serve. You’ll find all the classic Korean dishes here. Spicy beef noodle soup This is so pleasing to the soul. I nearly always order it if it’s cold outside. The soup is spicy but fragrant, tangy with nice umami flavours coming from the underlying chicken broth. The udon was also silky and bouncy with a really satisfying bite against the lovely tender beef. Served in a simple metal bowl. Satisfies me every time for only £6.50. 6 fried dumplings. These were very unlikely to be made in house and tasted store bought with its flimsy wrinkled pastry and little meat filling. But you come here expecting that when its placed as a side dish and costs only £3.00. Nice to have it steamed for you and then pan fried so well that it’s nice and crisp at the bottom Kimchi fried rice. I love the texture of this sticky rice. It gives it such a satisfying chew along with bits of silky eggs and crunchy kimchee. Combined with the mild spice and sour notes, it was music to the tastebuds. Topped nicely with sesame seeds for a nice sweet nutty finish. For an extra £1 you can add extra toppings like beef or egg. Seafood pancake. I think they had to rush this one as we were still in there after their closing time. Therefore it lacked that golden brown crispiness on top that I much prefer and usually get here. Still it was very enjoyable being more eggy and omelette like. Nice bits of prawns and spring onion to give it some excitement in taste and texture and that perfect rice vinegar soy dipping sauce that just adds a different dimension to it altogether making it so moreish. I adore Seoul Bakery. It’s not like amazing food but just comfort food in a homely atmosphere at really affordable prices. Seasoning is always perfect and I have never had something I didn’t like. The only problems are that it is a small place, not a very comfortable to linger long with it’s backless stools and cash only too. One of the places you just have to visit once if you’re a Londoner.

This review is based on the fact that in all its time where it originally was I never got to make it to Seoul Bakery. Finally I did, at its new location. I went with a friend who said it was actually bigger… well it was still a small space and had loads of customer messages(virtually marker scribbles) on the wall as in the original. The food is cheap for central prices which is what it was known for. I got bibimbap(beef for £4.50) while my friend got a meal deal for £7.50. I liked the marination on my beef and the salad was fresh. Overall very good for the price. If defo come back again. It’s a cheap and cheerful place to stop for food on the go in Central London.

It’s back! After a long wait for Seoul Bakery to open after being torn down for crossrail development, they’ve set up shop not too far from where they once were. The menu is the same(though slightly pricier) and the walls are quickly filling up with graffiti. If you’ve had that craving for kimchi fried rice, toppokki and gimbaps, make the pilgrimage once again(and still go to the ATM before as they are still cash-only)
