Context: Friend’s birthday dinner. Scoff & Banter was a good mid-way meeting place for people from all corners of London. It also was a good vibe for a cross-generational crowd(see: not too out-there menu, good quiet nooks without loud music blastic, great design. Oh, but now I’m giving too much of the review away. So here goes): I don’t know that I’d make a special trip to a Scoff & Banter(there are several locations around London), but it checks a lot of boxes for a larger group, and certainly wouldn’t do a private eye-roll if plans lead me there again. This location — a little tricky to find due to the subtlety of the signage — is just by Gloucester Road Tube. It’s part of a hotel, which probably is all I need to say to give you a sense for who many of the other diners were. That said, it’s a very expansive place with tables(long), tables(small ‘n intimate) and my personal fave: THETABLE + BOOTHCOMBO. Stretch out in that booth. Do it. We drank two bottles of wine(both good, and decently priced). Bread came with two flavours of compound butter. The service was almost _too_attentive(see: I think we had to say«ERM, not quite yet — a few more minutes?» x 3 before we were ready to order), but the regular water refills were very appreciated. The kitchen was also very open to swap-ins /swap-outs on dishes, and there was a great range of sides to top-up, from healthy ones(sugar snap peas) to, well, you know… less virtuous ones. The mains are nice riffs sitting at the intersection of pub-and-bistro? Chicken hot pot. Shepherd’s pie. Fish and chips. Burgers. But all with a little twist. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly, topped with a small green salad. The warm salmon was placed atop a(bizarre) layer of raw, unseasoned tomatoes which was… well…a little weird and texturally off, but it _did_make me feel virtuous and absolutely guilt-free as I went for more wine(TRADE-OFFS, Y’ALL). Most mains 12 — 18ish. In sum: sure. We didn’t scoff here, and there was some low-level banter. Scoff and Banter, y’allllright! Unilocal note: reservations not needed, but totally recommended if you want to snag one of the(few) in-window booth configurations.

Excellent food and great service! My parents had the British Burger which at 10 ounces plus toppings was quite large. They thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Scoff and Banter Favourite which was excellent. My son ordered the child’s cheeseburger which, unbeknownst to him, came with mayonnaise(which he does not like). They provided him a brand new cheeseburger, cooked and topped as he preferred, straight away. I highly recommend this restaurant for a relaxed, authentic British meal.

Great atmosphere. Had the fish and chips which was excellent. Also, had the raspberry house dessert which was good, but was just a little too large for my taste. The chocolate tart was also delightful. A friend are the salmon and commented on its tenderness and freshness. Overall, highly recommend and would definitely return.

We were really excited to try some authentic English dishes. The scoff and banter is a beautiful restaurant, immaculate and clean! We were greeted with a warm smile from the hostess. Unfortunately the service was mildly disappointing from there on. It took a while for the server to acknowledge us and she didn’t ask for any drink orders. The best dish was the shepherds pie. The ale pie was okay and the fish and chips was missing something to make it outstanding. Gratuity of 12.5% is included for those who do. Not know, Overall, a pleasant dinner but don’t expect to be wowed

Pros: Décor, Online Reservations Cons: Food, Service My husband and I went to dinner here on Valentines day. It was our first time and night in London and we were so excited to eat«British soul food». The service was extremely slow. It took 20 minutes to get a waiter to take our order, it took an hour and 15 minutes to get our appetizer and it took 2 hours to get our entrees. We were willing to wait because the great food reviews. Unfortunately it was not good. Here is a breakdown of our food: Cheese Soufflé: Was tasty but under cooked. The inside was watery. Veal Chop: Under cooked, flavorless Shepards Pie: Under seasoned, bland I’m assuming the lack of food quality and service was due to the Valentines day rush. Either way I don’t suggest coming here.

When traveling, I only resort to eating at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel when it is the last option. Tired from the workday, my boss and I decided to eat at Scoff & Banter, adjacent to Radiaaon Blu Edwardian. Wow. I’m glad I broke my own rule tonight. The food was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. Service was just right. I had the stuffed courgette flower with goat cheese. Yum. The chocolate fondant for dessert was oh so worth saving room for.

I really enjoyed this place. I had the ribeye and it was perfectly cooked. The sauce that came in a separate jug was very nice as well. My wife had the ocean trout, she said it was very tasty but the raviolo that came with it was quite hard. I would recommend this restaurant

CLOSEDUNTILSEPTEMBER! I love this place, and it is, in fact, one of my main reasons for staying at this particular Radisson. I was heartbroken when I checked into the hotel today after 2 hard work weeks in the road, looking forward to my usual relaxing glass of wine at the bar, and discovered drywall up where the restaurant should be. The makeshift«dining area» they set up downstairs is dark and depressing. But when it opens again go there.

I’m shocked that there aren’t more reviews on this place! It was such a gem during our stay in London. We went because it was right by our rented flat, and said it was«British comfort food». We liked it so much, we came back a second time. Every dish we ordered was excellent, the wait staff was friendly and didn’t rush us, and the atmosphere was elegant and upscale. Prices were very reasonable! Also — you won’t go wrong with the flour less chocolate cake with clotted cream. The best!

Went there for dinner last night. Very good quality food. My husband ordered grilled salmon — perfectly done. I ordered an English Burger. It had a layer of ham, cheese and mushrooms and came with a side of crispy onions. It came out on well done side, but it had good flavor. I later realized that I did not tell how I wanted it done and the waiter did not ask this question. Liked the fried pickles. Both plate portions were large. I could not finish the hamburger. Chips were hand-cut and crisp. We shared Eaton Raspberry Mess. The portion was good size and it was quite good but we thought that the chef may have crumbled the meringue too finely or was too shy with the amount which was added to the dish. Expected crunch, but did not get it. Service was friendly and polite. Overall a good experience an would go there again.
