Sanxia Renjia means people from the Three Gorges Area. Three Gorges is an area around the Yangtze River, where all kinds of delicious food originates from.

Sanxia Renjia is the first Chinese restaurant in London to offer authentic Hubei cuisines.

Established in 2010, we have been offering great food and service to tens of thousands of people travelling to and living in London.

Sanxia Renjia is the first Chinese restaurant in London to offer authentic Hubei cuisines because the owner comes from Hubei, China and thought it a pity that no Hubei dishes could be found in metroplitan London.

She has been developing receipes from traditional Hubei dishes and introducing other regional dishes into the restaurant menu as well. Chinese students and professionals in London find this place reminding them of their home back in China.

Another very good meal here. As a previous reviewer mentioned, prices have gone up slightly but not by much. The prices on the website are not correct. Our crab was £16, not £26.
We had a great meal. As usual p, we ordered the spicy crab. This never comes out the same, for whatever reason, but it is always good. Loads of dried chilies and Sichuan peppercorns tempered by bamboo shoots and celery. I suspect the crab was not live when prepared but it was still good.
General Guan’s Beef was excellent. The beef was battered and deep fried and then cooked with onions, dried chilli and sichuan Peppercorns. Absolutely delicious.
We also had the traditional green beans with pork mince. Always a great standard.
I also love that is restaurant always has a large Chinese clientele. For a restaurant so off the Chinese beaten path, it’s a great find.

If you’re looking for a standard Chinese place outside the hustle and bustle of Leicester square /​Chinatown area, look no further. SanXia Renjia has lots of seats for bigger groups and is spacious enough that you don’t need to worry about booking ahead. The food is a bit more pricey than Chinatown, and it doesn’t necessarily reflect in the quality of the food, unfortunately. Still, if you’re with good company, one cannot complain.
In terms of food, it was pretty standard Chinese food. I do realise the restaurant specializes in Hubai food, but I could not differentiate the difference. The black fungus-​tofu stirfry is amazing as well as the cumin lamb (although it suspiciously tasted more like pork). Some really good things on the menu that I want to try next time are the noodles.
The service was pretty good. They were quite professional and didn’t joke around behind the counter. They took our order promptly and even asked if we wanted forks (although everyone one of us can use chopsticks). The only bad thing that happened was one of the dishes came out just as we were nearly finished. We didn’t really have room for it, and I wished they communicated that we had one dish left and asked if we still wanted it.
All in all, a wonderful experience and I wouldn’t mind coming back again if I’m in the area.

One of the best places for Chinese food in London, or at least, one of the most authentic. Yes, it has changed over the last few years and isn’t as good as it was, but i’d still eat here over the majoirty of other Chinese places (from someone who lived in China for 6 years).
Try some of the more unknown dishes, you might be surprised ;)

It used to be quite nice, my friends and I came here pretty often. But now the prices have raised and portions became smaller, and even the taste isn’t good as before. We all agreed that we probably won’t come again, or at least not as often as we used to.

For Chinese New Year, we of course wanted Chinese but wanted to try one outside Chinatown.
So an English man, a Scots man, an Indian, a Taiwanese and several Chinese friends had a meal here for our Chinese New Year get together, booked here as our first choice was not available. The booking process was extremely poor. After booking with no mention of any T&Cs, they rang back to add T&Cs to the booking, firstly, a deposit needed, then another call to let you know that there is a one and a half turnaround time. By this time, it was too late to book anywhere else, so after much negotiations they then agreed to extend time slot to two hours.
Service was very poor, took them half an hour to take orders, although once ordered, the food came very swiftly. However, the starters came last, at the end of the meal! The food was average, nothing special. There was no ambiance in the restaurant either. We agreed it was not somewhere to come back to.

Here’s a simple, no-​frills Chinese eatery specializing in «central» chinese fare. It seemed partly aimed at westerners (with dishes like Kung Pao), but there were also more traditional Chinese offerings and a lot of the patrons were Asian (a good sign).
I had mixed results. Ordered a fried pork with vegetables dish which upon arrival, I found the pork part to be bacon. In other words, I was expecting morsels of pork but was surprised it was like they took a package of breakfast slices and mixed them in the stir fry. It wasn’t bad — just unusual and unexpected. That said, the portion size was good and the veggies and sauce had a nice kick.
The other thing I wasn’t used to is the add-​ons for every little thing. Rice — extra. Cocktail — extra + extra for the mixer. To go box — extra. My inexpensive 8 quid meal clocked in at 18 when it all added up.
For stir fry and bacon.
I’d go again if in the hood just to try something else… just be cognizant of the extras!
