This Sainsbury’s is fine should you need to pick up something in a hurry. It has fresh meat, bread and a range of microwaveable meals if you can’t be bothered to cook. I’ve lost count of the number of refits it’s had over the past few years, they seem to be playing musical-chairs with their checkouts. The current arrangement works better than the previous one which had queues blocking access to an entire aisle. They now have a few self-service checkouts too which are often quicker. Don’t forget to swipe your nectar card though.

Gets the job done! They’re in line with other Sainsbury’s Locals, with all the necessities packed in to a smaller footprint. Their take-and-bake baguettes will surprise you — quite delicious, in fact.

I’m not sure who put up shop first, but both Tesco and Sainsbury did me a huge favor and put up a nice pair of local markets right next to each other within a few blocks of my flat. Now, this is great for two reasons. 1) Options galore. 2) Sainsbury has certain items that I like better and vice versa. The close proximity also tends to lend a bit of competition to the items I need. For proximity, ease of shopping and having the necessities, I like this Sainsbury, even though the big one in Angel is way better, this one suits me just right 95% of the time!

Just too small. I know you can only use the space you have available but I’d prefer to see something else here rather than such a tiny supermarket. Then again its just about the right size and location for yet another bland coffee shop like Snorebucks, so maybe I should commend them for tenaciously hanging on to the territory while the coffee merchants circle menacingly.

This place has been open for a while now and basically is useful if you want stuff in the evening and don’t have the time to walk to the central sainsbury’s, otherwise avoid. Too expensive. There is a Tesco nearby and i would use that instead. There is a better Sainsbury’s on Upper Street that opens later than this one.

With both this and a Tesco Express in the same new building, it’s time for a fight! While I like Sainsbury better in larger stores, I have to admit to preferring Tesco for the small stores. Maybe it’s partly because I do my main shop at a large Sainsbury. I’m used to my favourite lines, including some of the ‘Basics’ range, and I miss them at stores like this. I also feel this store is badly laid out. The shop is quite shallow, being much longer along the front than it is deep. They’ve opted for three long aisles along the store. The position of lighting means that the middle aisle is rather dark. Also if you are in the back far corner and want to get out without going past the checkout, you’ve got the option of squeezing past the checkout or walking all the way back along an aisle. The result is unpleasantly claustrophobic.
