Saatchi Gallery

This is another cool gallery in London. They have a good selection of exhibits and you can spend a good couple of hours checking out the artworks here. It’s also free admission, totally recommend it to someone who enjoys artsy things to come and visit.

I adore the Saatchi Gallery. It’s always got a great collection of absolute head scratchers that delights the cynic inside me. That’s why I love this place for its contemporary art, which if it doesn’t confuse you, will certain enrapture you. I can’t for the life of me recall the names of any of the exhibitions I’ve attended, but if you go, you can head to the basement and see the huge pool of oil (or is it black paint?) that’s absolutely pungent and a perfect example of Contemporary Modern Art that you’ll spend hours pondering. I make sure I pay it a visit whenever I’m in the area because you can’t go wrong with modern art that challenges all interpretations. Also great for photos of looking cultural when you have no idea what’s going on.

An exceptional gallery. It free admissions! Really enjoyed my visit here. It wasn’t packed so I could take my time and appreciate the art.

If you enjoy modern art, this is a great gallery!!! It’s just the right size — enough pieces for a diverse collection, but not big enough to make your head hurt. Much of the collection is really interesting. Even though it’s completely free, there aren’t a lot of people inside so you can really soak in the art.

3 floors of amazing, inspiring, ever-​changing contemporary art. came to see emerging artists during the winter months last year. nice supplement to tate’s collections and also close to the tube.

Always check out what’s on stage in this little gem in Chelsea. Always.
They just finished the wonderful Mademoiselle Prive exhibition, celebration of
Chanel trademark, and they are preparing another not-​to-​miss retrospective on
Rolling Stones from April to September.
But anyway, the place is another jewel in the Chelsea panorama. Perfect
organization and inserted in one of the most beuatiful surrounding in London.
On saturdays there is a food market outside, so now you have no excuses not to
come and take a look at it!

This is one of my favourite Art Gallery in London. Exhibition are usually FREE.
Recently I have been to Mademoiselle Privé.
Mademoiselle Privé is a temporary exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery near Sloane Square open until the 1^st of November 2015. The exhibition was an amazing two hours experience, I got the chance to totally immerse myself in the spirit of Mademoiselle Gabrielle Chanel & Karl Lagerfeld.
Split into three different floors, Mademoiselle Privé is a journey through Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment, her codes and symbols, her N°5 and the re-​editions of the High Jewellery ‘Bijoux de Diamants’ collection created in 1932.
I really liked the exhibition. The concept was very modern, however to enjoy the full experience you needed the Mademoiselle Privé app. I have nothing against technology, but I don’t think this exhibition was suitable for everybody. I noticed there was a lot of old people who didn’t have smartphone or tablets, so they couldn’t see or read the extra details provided in each room.
A woman asked me while I was walking in the totem room why I was looking at my phone and I politely replied that I was reading the information about each totem via their app. I ended up sharing my phone screen with this very nice lady through the whole exhibition.
If you intend to go to the exhibition before it ends, you should not read the post on my blog as I am sharing pictures of the whole exhibition. For people who can’t go this exhibition, you should definitely have a look on my blog, I’ve included all the details you get from the app while walking through each room so you can enjoy the full experience.
I went to the exhibition at 10am as it was the best way to avoid the queue. (It also works if you want to avoid very pretentious fashion French bloggers who moan when you walk around the room because you ruin their pictures. They arrived around 11.30!)

The attractive restoration of the Duke of York’s Headquarters in Chelsea provides ample opportunities to enjoy the various exhibitions of the Saatchi Gallery.
My wife and I discovered it in August 2014 with the «Pangaea: new art from Africa and Latin America» exhibition.
We enjoyed the site, the exhibition, our lunch at the Gallery Mess just after our visit.
An exceptional Gallery located in an exceptional building, with free exhibitions!

In the next month, Saatchi is all busy with great events and I love how by the time fall kicks in, London surrounds even more with art.
During the months between November and January, a contest for emerging artists will be running, featuring artwork by people from UK and Ukraine.
What I like most about this gallery is that it supports new artists that aren’t so popular and they really look for something different and inspiring rather than crap done by some rich kids that pay for their art to be exhibited. Many artists showing at The Saatchi Gallery are unknown when they are first exhibited, not only to public but also to the commercial art world. They are practically launching their careers here and that is worth appreciating.
You can find all types of art here, mostly modern and contemporary. There is also a restaurant-​café and a running workshop.
I think people who appreciate modern art will even enjoy more their presence here than at Tate Modern museum, which also has great artworks exhibited in SE London.

This is a comment on the website only. i could not visit the gallery because it is closed — except for invited guests/​. It would be awfully nice if they gave some warning of this so all of the many unsuspecting visitors did mot make an unnecessary trip.

Saatchi Gallery continues to deliver a well thought out contemporary art experience that is engaging, thought-​provoking and free.

Eine tolle Galerie mit primär moderner Kunst und freiem Eintritt. Wenn man auf der Kings Road ist, sollte man unbedingt mal vorbeischauen.

Split over three floors, and changing its exhibits about every three months this is easily the best contemporary art gallery I’ve been to. Definitely a place worth returning to. It is also worth noting that there ample sitting & quiet areas which are excellent for reading if you are visiting on your own.
If you are visiting there on a Saturday there is a morning market nearby which is perfect for easing your way into the gallery. Or if you are looking for a place to go after the gallery the mess is next door which does afternoon tea, failing that the cafeteria at the top of Peter Jones has an incredible view.

Skate girls of Kabul — until April 28^th 2015. A fabulous photo journalistic essay which reminds me of Steve McCurry with elements of Cartier-​Bresson at their best. Well worth seeing.

Really amazing pop art collection! The gift shop is one of the best I’ve ever been to in a gallery! Was very impressed with this new exhibition! Highly recommended!

While trying to assemble an online photo book I had reason to take a renewed look at the images shot while on a vacation to London earlier this year. I searched the pictures trying to get a feel for what we actually did on this trip and, with few exceptions, came away with the feeling that trip had left me with: we did nothing. The trip was the epitome of family dysfunction.
And there was the reminder: photos of Saatchi Gallery. Our journey to find Saatchi was the height of the dysfunction. One family member darted across a busy boulevard. Another wandered off while we sought assistance from a transit worker. We were met with detours and whining and false starts and tantrums. Saatchi was a place I’d always wanted to see but nobody seemed to know how to get us there. When I heard Him ask a fellow pedestrian for directions to «Shoo-​shee» I about blew a gasket. We were never going to find it.
Then we found it and I don’t have a clue why it was so difficult. It’s very big (70,000 square feet) and very easy to find. You shouldn’t have the troubles we encountered. And because of that you’re also unlikely to tell family members to «get the f*** out of my face» once you arrive.
How Saatchi got on my radar remains a mystery but I am inspired by contemporary art and obviously had filed this place away. I was not disappointed.
Free to enter, Saatchi spans multiple floors and the art within is the sort I find massively appealing. A wide diversity of contemporary artists fills the space. There’s colors, imagery, vibrancy. It is the opposite of the sort of that sort of modern art which consists of a mono-​chromatically painted canvas (I’m looking at you, Guggenheim Museum). It is images of people and recognizable things from your life all interpreted through the eyes of the hottest living, working artists.
There is one standing exhibition which falls more into that «other» category but it too was interesting even though, at the time, I had no idea what I was looking at or what that odd smell was. I am referring to a room, viewed from above, which is filled with motor oil. I can’t explain it nor do I understand it but it definitely captured my interest for a brief while.
There are a ton of museums in London, almost all of them free to enter. Saatchi is a gallery, not a museum, and it trades in different fare from those, but since it is free and excellent you should make an effort to see it. I trust you will find getting there a far simpler experience than mine (the gallery is a 3 — 4 minute walk from Sloane Square tube, on the District and Circle lines).

A place I keep returning to. Beautiful art, amazing space. Great place to visit on your own and the perfect first date destination.

This isn’t unique to the Saatchi Gallery, but I love how galleries are not only free admission but also just tucked away in spots that *you would normally be in anyways* throughout the great city of London.
I guess what I’m saying is: when you’re down around Sloane Square, had some lunch, finished with shopping… you should absolutely pop into the Saatchi Gallery.
Something that I particularly love about this Gallery is that it’s not tiny, but it is also totally manageable: you don’t need to block off a half day to see something new and enjoy.
Today I went specifically to check out two exhibits: (1) Spasibo, a photo exhibit full of anthro-​political (I just made up that word) commentary on the last few years of life in Chechnya, and; (2) Premonition, an exhibit of Ukrainian art predating the upheaval there this year but hinting at its potential through a lot of mixed media pieces showing angst and discord.
So…yep. Went right when it opened, each gallery was empty save for the occasional security and… loved it all. I love the physical space itself; built up vertically (good cardio) and contemporary just like the works displayed within it, the Saatchi Gallery is a prime spot to exhibit. And visit. DO IT.
Literally only grumble is that I feel like the one bathroom option (basement) is really small for the potential number of visitors on a busy day. But, whatever… just don’t chug water before you go, k?
Unilocal note: the gallery shop (level 1) is *fantastic*. Great stationary, and cards, and tote bags and books, but also more precious things like painted mirrors, jewellery and special edition prints. They also carry a lot of «School of Life» materials… always a fan.

A must for contemporary arts lovers.
The gallery features both installations and print/​paint works by artists around the world, whose subjects revolve around pop culture, war, globalization, and humanity in general. Some are delightfully lighthearted, others drenched with foreboding and angst.
Fans of the Saatchi Gallery will surely enjoy a visit to the Tate Modern at Bankside.

My personal litmus test for an art gallery’s quality is simple: How often, if at all, would I want to return and view subsequent exhibitions?
With this qualifier alone, the Saatchi Gallery gets a strong 5 stars.
I’m an art lover that much prefers looking to the future than the ‘days of old’, so in the vein of the incomparable Tate Modern, I knew the Saatchi Gallery would be my kind of spot.
I absolutely loved the current «Panagea» exhibition, giving talented, contemporary African and Latin American artists an impressive platform to have their voices heard in the rather one-​sided art world. You have your paintings, photography, mixed-​media, and sculpture all in one large yet manageable space.
All viewings are completely free and there are no ‘velvet ropes’ hampering your ability to view the works from up-​close– I felt like a bit of a rebel gawking at the artists’ painstaking workmanship with my nose nearly brushing the artwork.
It’s located in the super-​luxe Sloane Square area (near Knightsbridge and Belgravia), so there’s much to see, do and eat once you walk off the Saatchi grounds.
If you’re a tourist here for at least 2 weeks then it’s highly recommended. If you’re a Londoner and love contemporary art this is simply a must-​visit!

Diese Galerie für zeitgenössische Kunst wird für mich zu einem Pflichtbesuch, wann immer ich wieder nach London zurückkehren werde. Der Eintritt ist frei und auch die Garderobe in der untersten Etage ist kostenlos. Dort sollten Besucherinnen und Besucher schnurstracks ihrer Nase folgen, denn es «duftet» nach … Mineralöl! Die Nase führt direkt hin zu Richard Wilsons 20:50 — ein geniales Kunstwerk, das mit den Sinnen spielt und in seiner Einfachheit raffiniert zu täuschen vermag. Die Bilder sprechen für sich …
Auch in den anderen Etagen sind wundervolle Kunstwerke zu entdecken. Besonders schön waren die Riesenformat-​Triptichon-​Fotos von Leonce Raphael Agbodjélou, ein mit Jutesäcken bespannter Raum von Ibrahim Mahama oder auch Casa Tomada, der Raum mit den «Gianten-​Ameisen», von Rafael Gómezbarros.
Die jungen Nachwuchskünstler werden natürlich nicht vergessen. In einem kleinen Raum waren die Gewinner eines Förderpreises, Art Prize For Schools, der Saatchi Gallery und der Deutschen Bank. Verstörend und doch faszinierend zugleich wirkte auf mich Meat von der 18-​jährigen Ellie Ansell.
Bei allen Kunstschätzen, die London zu bieten hat, ist die Saatchi Gallery ein neues Kronjuwel und kann auch noch mit einem richtig coolen Museumsshop aufwarten.

This gallery features a lot of modern and contemporary art and sculpture. My favourite piece was definitely Richard Wilson’s 20:50. Very stunning and wonderful!
The gift shop is a great place to find cool and unique gifts to friends and family… or an awesome new sketchbook for yourself! You can also find jewellry, kitchen things and artist supplies

La gallérie a déménage des les rives de la tamise sous l’aquarium pour le très chic quartier de Chelsea … C’est plus loin, mais on aime toujours cette sélection de l’art contemporain vraiment contemporain !
Selon moi incontournable même si vous né verrez pas des grandes toiles célèbres comme à la tate modeŕn

Die Ausstellung ist sehr gut und auf einem London Trip ein muss! Die Ausstellung ist liebevoll zusammengestellt und hält ein paar echt schöné Dinge bereit.
Unbedingt anschauen!

Ce lieu qui vaut déjà le détour rien que pour son architecture, propose une programmation d’art contemporain très éclectique et intéressantes… plus libre, moins guindée, on se promèné entre tableaux, installation et sculpture ! La boutique de la saatchi est aussi un «to do» pour trouver un catalogue d’expo (qui sont plutôt bien édité !)

Pour découvrir un lieu magnifique et les dernières tendances de l’art contemporain, pas de doute c’est là qu’il faut se rendre! Un palais parfaitement refait, des oeuvres étonnantes avec une bonne brochure explicative, une belle boutique, un café impeccable (mais pas donné)… et l’entrée est libre. Et le public londonien: mamies branchées, minettes bien habillées…un plaisir.
