We only popped in to Ruby Dock for a hot drink while deliberating where to get lunch from the various delicious looking food stalls dotted around Camden Lock Market. It’s a nice space, but not huge, so don’t be surprised if you can’t quite squeeze in! There is some bench seating outside if the weather’s nice(or if you have plenty of layers on…) and one bench out the back door, though that one is very close to the DJ pop up so can become quite noisy. Ever the unadventurous, I only went for an English breakfast tea, which was served in a paper cup. Pretty unfriendly to the environment and it almost makes you feel as though you shouldn’t really be stopping, but still a tasty cuppa. Somewhere to keep in mind for future lunches also — the menu looked delicious, with lots of breakfast/brunch options and items(bacon, spinach etc) that you can easily add for an additional £1.

This for me is one of the gems of Camden Town. Having lived in the area for many years, it was a wonderful addition to the market when it opened. Their toasted muesli, yogurt and fruit offering is good enough on it’s own but when washed down with their delicious coffee it’s a perfect brunch. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Sunday morning with the family, you’re exhausted since you’ve had them staying at yours for 4 days for you sister’s birthday and she’s behaving like a little princess. You need somewhere to take them for a morning so they can ooh and aah at things whilst you blend into the background. Camden it is then! We had a wander around the markets on a Sunday morning/lunchtime(it was packed as expected) and decided to stop and drink in the atmosphere with a coffee. Ruby Dock was right there when we needed it. Benches outside in the beautfiul sunshine and cheap coffe, who can complain! The coffee was also really tasty, quite mellow and relaxed, just like us on the Sunday morning. Couple of downsides, no skimmed milk(my mum was dieting… well she kept telling us that all weekend just before she tucked into a fattening chocolate dessert in a restaurant), no flavourings for the coffee and no chilled coffee drinks. Strangely in March, it was the perfect weather for an iced latte, but I settled on the hotter variety. Shame

Ruby Dock is a cute little café in the centre of Camden Lock Market which even on a Sunday wasn’t too crowded. I initially was not impressed by the slightly lacklustre appearance of the cakes and the fact they only serve drinks in paper cups(this is their unenvironmentally friendly weekend policy) but my chocolate brownie and chai latte were both delicious. Apparently the coffee is good too. Great place to catch up with friends and take a break from eating everything on offer at the market.

Having had a most delightful walk around the market we decided it was time for a coffee. There were numerous coffee outlets but we decided to sit outside this attractive looking restaurant, Ruby Dock. My, we were so impressed by the quality of their product. My Americano was more like a large cup of espresso, nice and strong(as I like it). My partners latte, as she said, made a mocchary(yeh, Ok, a play on words) of others that she had tasted before. Instead of tasting like frothy milk, this one tasted like a frothy coffee. Good service and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit when in the market.
