History
Established in 1976.
The building was originally built as a factory for water tanks, sevred as a munition factory during WWII before being converted to a TV Studios in the 1950’s. Some of the original Dr. Who was filmed here as well as a variety of other BBC shows. It fell quiet in the 1960’s before being revived in the 70’s with shows such as The Old Grey Whistle Test and Top of the Pops. The early 80’s brought theatre to the building and this has continued developing over the past 3 decades. The cinema was introduced to the building soon after and the is now has an established name in independent cinema. The Television Studios were overhauled and TFI Friday was recorded here for a number of years in the late 90’s and early 00’s, before other shows such as CD: UK and TOTP to the current Celebrity Juice. Alongside all these Arts developments the restaurant and bar within the building has established itself as a destination in its own right and is enjoyed by audience and visitors alike.
